1. Not sure, but the re-elect number is usually more telling.
I imagine Reagan's re-elect number in October '84 was quite high.

Anyone have the goods??

5. If I interpret that chart correctly...
...then a re-election requires at least a 60% approval rating at election time, and over 50% a year before.

With "President" Bush standing at 54% in this week's Gallup poll, that is bad news.

Mondale led Reagan 50-44

and Glenn led Reagan 49-42

Only proving further, that polls at this point are absolutely meaningless.
