Cut and Run Or Propoganda?
One of two things are going to happen before the election next year.

Either they are going to cut and run from Iraq OR they are going to depend upon massive propoganda to make it seem like they are reducing troops.

Cut and Run Option

In this option they essentially slap together a rag-tag, untrustworthy Iraqi security force, throw together a constitution and have a sham election, declare mission accomplished and pull out, leaving the country in shambles. In this scenario they will possibly leave some troops in the country behind the walls of heavily fortified Halliburton built military fortresses. These troops and bases will be used for further imperialist ventures and possibly protect some oil fields and refineries. Although they may decide to give up on Iraq's oil for the moment and just use the bases as staging grounds to launch more invasions in the region.

Propoganda Option

The troops will stay but they will depend on fudging and making up numbers and confusing the public through tricks involving troop rotations and deployments. They will claim that they are cutting down the number of troops deployed, when in fact they are not. They will depend on propoganda to make it seem like the troops will be home any moment now. This is another version of what they intend to do w/ the economy "Prosperity is right around the corner!" "All the troops will be home any day now!"

1. Third Option:
Turn over control of rebuilding effort to the UN.

Turn over duties related to the creation of a new Iraq government to the UN.

Establish an international peace keeping force under UN control.

I doubt that this option will even be considered, but I can hope can't I?

You could probably also add a fourth option: Aliens come down and save the world!

4. Cut and Run
Prediction: They are going to declare victory and cut and run before the election. Bush will campaign as the president who stood up for democratic freedoms and won the war in Iraq. Some of our 87 billion will be passed to offshore American corporations who will hire 3rd world thugs to fight for the oil.
This is a phase in a progression to privatizing government and war.

Will it succeed. I don't know.

An important point: There are many people who want to believe that their loved ones did not fight and die "for nothing". Bush's rhetoric is aimed at them.

I think we can only win the political war of words (propaganda war) if we know how to finish this sentence:

The soldiers who were killed will not have died in vain if............................

Sample finish: no American president will ever again be able to lie his way into starting an unnecessary war. This is why Bush must be defeated.

5. Propoganda
yesterday's speech on democratizing the ME was the American people's introduction to PNAC's plan via propoganda. Cut and run is not an option for this administration. Iraq was the first step of something that's been planned for many years and there's no way we'll ever pull out of Iraq or hand it over to the UN. The troop rotation announcement is a setup for long term committment in the region. Iraq will be the base to either threaten other ME countries or even lauch offensives.

7. The Illusion of Troop Withdrawal
They will want to creat the illusion that they are withdrawing troops.

I suspect they will simply retreat into fortified bases as soon as Halliburtion finishes building them and claim they finished the job and democratized the country. That way they have the troop presence and the bases to launch future invasions in the region.

8. How about a little of both?
Although it hardly matters; it will be difficult to discern the truth in any case, and in any case it will be denied or further obfuscated.

Then again, you say this as if it matters. Whatever the situation, it will be painted in the glowing colors of red, white, and blue. And the Fox News junkies will suck, swallow, and ask for seconds.

Both options are the "propaganda" option. I think they stay up nights studying Goebbels.

9. You're right, propoganda will be used in either option
In cut and run it will be used to make it seem like we're not retreating and have accomplished democratization and in the second option it will be used to make it seem like we're reducing troop size and the mission will be accomplished any day now...
