Sites for next year's three presidential debates also were announced yesterday by the Commission on Presidential Debates, the nonpartisan, nonprofit group that sponsors the events. The schedule includes:
University of Miami, Coral Gables, Fla., Sept. 30. Washington University, St. Louis, Oct. 8. Arizona State University, Tempe, Ariz., Oct. 13. All debates are scheduled to start at 9 p.m., and the commission expects to announce the format for each event early next year, said Janet Brown, a commission spokeswoman.

Case Western Reserve University will host next year's vice-presidential debate, an event expected to focus national and international attention on Northeast Ohio.
Besides showcasing the region, the Oct. 5 debate will be "a giant civics lesson," said Dr. Edward Hundert, Case's president.
