?? US/CANADA Comparison... |
|
Edited on Fri Nov-07-03 07:00 PM by mzmolly
Has anyone lived in both countries? If so would you care to 'compare.'
Also, can anyone tell me about MapleRidge? I think it's near Vancouver?
Thanks!
Considering a 'flee' depending on the next election ;)
I hear wonderful things about the Vancouver area, though it's a bit farther/further  from the US Midwest then I'd care to live.
Thanks!!!

I've lived in both countries; not only that, but I've lived in two Canadian provinces. As for Maple Ridge, that's where I got my dog when she was just a puppy. A family there had an Old English Sheepdog and the neighbor's black Lab sneaked in... Maple Ridge is in the Fraser Valley, locally referred to simply as "the valley." It's extremely fertile land, but it's being completely built up as Vancouver sprawls eastward. The Fraser itself is beautiful, and k.d. lang lives not too far from Maple Ridge. Vancouver - the city proper - is an amazing, beautiful, wonderful city, although it has its problems with drugs and the attendant crime, especially in the notorious East End. Vancouver is a very Pacific Rim-conscious place, probably due in part to the huge numbers of people from Hong Kong who moved to Vancouver when China was about to take back Hong Kong. I could write you whole pages comparing the two countries, and with more information about B.C. and the greater Van area, if you like. PM me and I'll write more.

3. I lived in Vancouver for nearly 20 years from 1971-1989. |
|
Maple Ridge is about 30 miles (50 kilometers) from Vancouver. What else do you want to know?

in the US and it reminded me of MapleRidge. I live in a charming town with a great sense of community.
Anything you can tell me about it would be appreciated.

5. Hey, I'd like a piece of this |
|
I plan to flee to Canada, so if you don't mind perhaps you could post the additional info instead of (or in addition to) PM'ing it? If it's not too personal of course.
Thanks very much.
