Clark on C-span 1 right now -- (from robbedvoter)
Edited on Fri Nov-07-03 09:13 PM by RandomUser
From the thread locked for punctuation.

Clark is right now on CSPAN 1. If you're not near a tv, log onto c-span.org and go to the streaming feed.

(Edited to change cspan.org to c-span.org)

2. "you're not a leader"
If you're standing out there alone.........

This is so his forte.

New tie.

5. bush's playground politics
Edited on Fri Nov-07-03 09:09 PM by carpediem
This statement made me think about how Bush is acting like a small child, arguing over who gets to lead. There is always the one child who refuses to give in. "no I'M THE LEADER follow ME" and usually when he looks back noone is following.

Too bad, bush didn't learn anything on the playground growing up. The bully only leads until his bluff is called.

GO CLARK!!

He's good at this. Certainly quite a change from Bush presidential speeches.

8. He really sounds good here
(taped from yesterday in SC)
Clark will not write off the south. I think he's going to take the campaign right to GWB.
Clark is really starting to polish his game.

9. He's actually much better off the cuff
This was a prepared speech, as was necessary, since it was one of his four major policy speeches. It's not bad, but I think he does even better off the cuff. He's got that natural sincerity and empathy that works better off the cuff, like Clinton.

22. I agree.
This was good, but his appearance at the University of South Carolina last week, which was much more free wheeling, was awesome. The man can really think on his feet, and the compass of his intellect is astonishing.

10. Wow he's really expanding on themes in his first book
The importance of coalitions, diplomacy and what I think he called "positive deferment?".

This is the first political person I have truly admired on so many levels in I just don't know how long.

17. I completely agree
When I was a kid and thought of what a President should be - Clark is what I expected. A true leader. This election isn't about the economy or about Iraq - it is about leadership. If Clark can get elected (and I sincerely believe he can and should) I think our kids will be reading about how he took the negative path bush put us on and turned it around to a positive. He actually makes me hopeful about being American.

20. "He actually makes me hopeful about being American. "
I agree. The other candidates can make me mad at Bush, but only Clark can make me proud to be an American again. That is going to get him a lot of voters on election day.

25. I'll go you one better than that.
I was so cynical I didn't believe in leaders and leadership. I supported candidates. I even did a bit of door to door. But I didn't really believe in "leaders".

Wes Clark totally changed that for me.

I loved Bill Clinton and still do, but I always thought of him as a very smart and charasmatic personality. I can see now there is a big difference between a charmer and a leader.

11. He sounds so sincere
when he says that he would only use military force as a last resort. The clear implication being that he wouldn't use it as part of a re-election campaign like *some* politicians would.
I think he almost teared up when he spoke of the soldiers that make the ultimate sacrifice.

in the audience you could see it clearly (I was there). His voice got a little phlemy as well.

That man just melted my heart with the Vietnam story and remarks about the men who never got to see their babies... their names are on a Black Granite Wall in DC. How touching. I love this man.

13. After watching him for a while I feel simply mesmerized
by his calm, intelligent, and steady voice of reason. My God, we desperately need this man to win the presidency. I think he's the best one to beat the *, but also he could heal the international wounds Nightmare * has caused. Other candidates also have that ability, but Clark seems like such a natural born world leader. His charasma is composed of brilliance, level-headed intensity, and the ability to convince others through his open, mature, and genuinely friendly manner.

Clark in '04! :yourock:

14. Very moving story about his child and soldiers
About how he was shot and came home from vietnam on a stretcher, and it that was the first time he held his newborn child in his hand, the child born while he was at war. And how every time he thinks of the troops, the soldiers in the field, and the ones who die, this is what he thinks about -- about all that they're missing, all the lives and precious moments squandered. And that's why you always, always, always use force as a last resort.

This man understands the human dimension of war.

21. Amazing
This is the guy who can truly lead us out of this dim dark malaise that we are in. He is hopeful, he is positive, he has a vision and a workable plan.

How can anyone who has not heard him speak not give him some credibility.

I've been around the block more times than I want to count. Haven't seen anything like this since Kennedy. No shit.

where he can talk. Not those so called debates. Given that chance people would see what we know. Real substance doesn't come in sound bites.

Couldn't agree more.

Ya'll, the media, every freakin' time I turn on the tv, is talking about the demise of Clark as a candidate. We gotta do something about this. We should all sit down and write a letter to the editor of our local newspapers, for starters. Remember, keep them short, if you want them printed - and you do, we do.

27. That's an excellent idea.
After all DU is made up of people who DO. We need a collection of people who are willing to organize and hit one media outlet at a time with requests to see more coverage of the plans that General Wesley Clark has for our country. Simple and to the point, sincere and in LARGE numbers.
