Kucinich got into an argument with Joe Klein (TIME mag) after the debate
SPIN ROOM SHOWDOWN

In the post-debate media zone, Kucinich engaged himself in a war of words with Time magazine columnist Joe Klein. The campaign was miffed that Kucinich was not tapped for a live interview with Paula Zahn following the forum, as many of the other candidates were. In a misunderstanding, campaign staffers erroneously believed Klein was at fault for the lack of invitation. Continuing the campaign’s crusade against “biased” media coverage, Kucinich sought Klein out and confronted him. “Whaddya mean? Listen, your people got this absolutely wrong. I was a guest on CNN. I have absolutely no say over who goes on the air,” Klein tried to explain. Kucinich then turned to his staffers and said, “He says he had no say in it,” but the staffers continued to goad Klein for ignoring the congressman. “Cut the crap,” Klein cut them off. “What I said was I have say over what goes in my column and I’m not going to interview you for my column. I’m sorry. I’ve got only so much space for so many candidates.” “I’m not confronting you,” Kucinich said, but he continued to press for an answer on why he was being shut out from CNN and, now, Time. “I think your position on the most important issue facing this country is totally irresponsible,” Klein told Kucinich as the candidate continued to argue his point. In terms of the war, Klein tried to explain that Kucinich isn’t the only candidate he disagrees with, but it was falling on the campaign’s deaf ears. “In fact the only one telling the truth right now is Lieberman,” Klein said. “We do need more troops on the ground. Everybody else is taking this position of convenience, which is popular with the Democratic base.” “Just saying ‘U.N. in, U.S. out’ won’t work because the U.N. ain’t coming,” Klein shot back before walking away from Kucinich, who continued to spar before ending with, “So you should interview me about that sometime, Joe.”

1. Did Klein do everyone but Dennis?
Or did he omit others?

And his editorializing and saying Dennis position on Iraq was "irresponsible" and that LIEBERMAN had the only valid position?!?!!!

:wtf:

2. the title seems a bit missleading
also the "war of words."

i find it funny that most of the quotes are from Klein so it is difficult to figure out what exactly dennis and his staffers were saying.

the only quote from kucinich is "im not confronting you" and a, i think quite appropriate and funny response "So you should interview me about that sometime."

im going to steal from the oft' quoted feminist saying:

"if youre feeling attacked by a kucinich supporter (or himself), its probably a counterattack."

7. The corporate media shut Dennis out every single time
The data was posted yesterday. Dennis Kucinich, representative from a very mainstream district in Ohio, the heart and center of America and the Democratic party, was utterly censored from TV.

Dennis Kucinich, co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus along with Barbara Lee, whose economic view are the traditional American view that people from center to left to right mostly agree with, was systematically prevented from running a campaign and addressing the nation over our airwaves.

The way the corporate media promoted certain candidates as "anti-war" and giving them 50 times the coverage has really opened my eyes to just how powerful Capcities/ABC, GE/Westinghouse, FOX/Newscorp, and the rest have become.

11. the thread's subject includes sensationalism interjected by poster
Edited on Fri Nov-07-03 11:01 PM by cosmicdot
... as to inflict negative light on Dennis ...

... even the MSNBC section header is a bit over the top "SPIN ROOM SHOWDOWN"

"the campaign embeds" ... tabloid journalism (deleted "politics" ... it's really tabloid journalism -- and, it's being brought into DU as something important)

I loathe MSNBC and Big Media.

Some folks seem to relish playing Rona Barrett ...

beyond its scope in order to raise emotions

is yellow journalism, Mr. Hearst

"...the publishers of these papers often exploited their position by sponsoring a flamboyant and irresponsible approach to news reporting that became known as "yellow journalism." Though the term was originally coined to describe the journalistic practices of Joseph Pulitzer, William Randolph Hearst proved himself worthy of the title. Today, it is his name that is synonymous with 'yellow journalism'."

26. i already said the post was misleading
there is very little in the quoted text or the website that would constitute a "war of words." even argument is a stretch. kucinich is quoted (of the only two times in the article) as saying "im not confronting you."

better than nothing I suppose.

Btw this whole spat is on video I saw it on inside politics or something earlier. Klien comes off way more manly than he apeared in the video. Denis was definately after the wrong guy though.
