1. Here is what you are supposed to speak about

Why is politics important to youth and how can we get more youth involved in the process? Actually, once I looked at the correct topic I realized I'm going to have to modify my speach quite a bit... I should have taken a look at why/what I'm suppose to speak about.

3. It's a great opportunity

I'm going to spend a long time working on my speech (the deadline's 26 April 2004). I keep thinking it will be hard to sum up my feelings on youth activism in 300 words, but I intend to try.

I don't anticipate they will get many responses, even with that fantastic opportunity. If a few young DUers send in something, and we all write something pretty good, one of us could definitely be chosen.

but the line, "Winners will deliver their message during primetime at the 2004 Convention" suggests multiple winners.

You mean young people or members of young democrats. I am in high school, we should have a club but the teacher who sponsors it sponsors something else more important called SAGA-Students Against Global Abuse which is nice but no time for young dems. I was gonna run for VP honestly.

On edit: According to the requirements, you don't technically have to be a Democrat, just a young person 18-24 with an interest in politics. I suppose a skill for public speaking might help as well (you might have to deliver the speech before the convention).
