It's not ALL about the Presidency |

That's an important part, but we really need to take back the Senate too. The House I think for now is a lost cause, unless there is a MAJOR upset. Maybe in 2006, 0r 2008 we can get that back... But we all have got to work on getting Dems in those seats!

We aren't going to be able to accomplish much if we don't work hard to get at least a big chunk out of the house.

I think a lot of us hope to take the Senate through the momentum of our presidential candidate, but it is important to not that it isn't automatically going to happen.
Thanks!

What frustrates me is the complete lack of interest in LOCAL politics. I mean, I can see why someone in Chicago wouldn't be terribly interested in school board elections in Juneau, Alaska. But political powerhouses like Houston and Seattle should be of national interest.
And everyone should be interested in general trends and tactics that work locally. Reformed school boards and city councils would serve two purposes:
1. Help protect us from George Bush, Inc.
2. Serve as a steppingstone to higher offices.
It would be awfully tough reforming the presidency and the Senate if we were fighting local government at the same time. Therefore, we desperate need to get some decent human beings in office at the grassroots level.

4. The most important way to accomplish this.. |
|
is to VOTE IN THE PRIMARIES IN YOUR DISTRICT IF THEY HAVE THEM! Most people skip the primaries and then are dismayed at having to choose between substandard candidates. The primaries are so vitally important in narrowing the race down to the best candidates.

5. I hope that the Dem nominee, whoever that is, |
|
mentions the necessity of electing Dems for all offices whenever he speaks to the public.
If people vote at all, they're more likely to vote in presidential and senatorial elections and ignore the local races.

6. Have been saying for quite awhile |

that the other political races besides the president are extremely important too. Wisconsin has some of the best Sens & Reps. Feingold, Kohl & Obey. Russ Feingold is up for reelection in 2004 and the Repugs will be coming after him hot and heavy. Already a poll was done by a WI newspaper pitting Feingold against the Ex Gov. Tommy Thompson (member of the Bush Cartel)in an imaginary senate race and show TT beating RF. It won't do any of us any good if our presidential candidate gets elected but spends his time fighting congress on everything. Take Our Country back but lets take back our house & senate too.

7. Here-here! You can be sure the Repubs are focused on it more than we are |
|
I've been surprised how few threads there have been on winning back the Congress. There is MASSIVE 'undoing' that needs to be done next term, if we get a Dem for Pres. And not much is going to happen if we don't change Congress too.
