George W. Bush the Queen's Guest???
This article in The Guardian - http://society.guardian.co.uk/governinglondon/story/0,8150,1081132,00.html - says Bush will be the Queen's guest during the duration of his stay in London.

Sheez, can you imagine royalty entertaining that jackass? What will he do - pick his nose? Show the Queen his stuff horned lizard? Say, "Parlay voo Texun?"?

I'm also a little surprised the Queen would associate with Bush. I thought Tony Blair was his only British poodle. On the positive side, Bush might divert some attention from Prince Charles.

If Princess Di was still alive, I wonder if she'd associate with Bush.

1. Bush Visits Queen
The day after Rush Limbo returns to his golden microphone. Listen to the spin begin.

4. The Bushes are related to the royals.
Maybe they're going to catch up on family gossip; and as much as I've heard about their inbreeding, maybe they'll catch up on other things as well.

5. I hope people bare their bums at Buckingham Palace.
From the 'Bare Your Bum at Bush' website:
Method
George Bush is unlikely to walk around the streets kissing babies because of the large number of people that wish to blow him up. However, a 'Brits love Bush' photo-op of happy crowds greeting the man may be in the offing and it's vitally important that we rob him of such a lucrative propaganda device. By attending such gatherings (by accident or design) and ensuring that you bare your buttocks as he passes by, you either render any photos taken at that moment unusable or make a very clear indication of what Britain thinks of this bigoted warmonger.

. . .

Baring Your Bum
If you hear of a visit to your part of town or happen to see George W Bush, bare your arse in his general direction. Don't be afraid to wiggle it about a bit and maybe even spread your cheeks; this is a political statement you're making and you don't want to do things by halves, now do you?

Threatening To Bare Your Bum
Write to your chosen local, national or foreign newspaper and inform them that you, as a British citizen, fully intend to do your civic duty and bare your arse at George W Bush. In this same letter, you may also wish to call upon other readers to do the same.

. . .

Many people have signed up for the alert list, ready and willing to bare their bums for the nation. Please feel free to join us.

ALERT LIST - If you would like to receive information the moment we have a clear idea of dates/times/plans, send an email to bums AT bloggerheads DOT com to go on the alert list.

6. He Has To Hide Somewhere
And I doubt that the US and the UK combined can provide enough security to protect him from Europe if he stays anywhere else.

he was going to ride in the carriage with the queen, which is tradition. It had to be cancelled due to the anticipated huge anti Bush demonstrations.:bounce:

8. A public relations nightmare
What a strangely syncronistic turn of events: The royal family scandal and the George Bush, who is wildly unpopular in the U.K., staying with the Queen. Get out the popcorn, folks. This may be entertaining.

9. Wasn't Prince Edward a big fan and promoter of Hitler?
The same sap who married Mrs. Simpson and gave up the throne.

These royals don't have good judgment about who they associate with.

11. In many ways she's the UK's chief diplomat
so if Blair and Bush want a state visit, she pretty much has to put up with it. State visits from other royalty are more likely to be her idea, since (a) they're 'her sort of people', (b) they're probably related. She's had over 50 years of making small talk with people she may or may not like or have much in common with, so she'll be able to do it for a few days.

Having said that, she got on very well with Reagan, apparently, because they both loved horses (she rides, and owns racing horses). And if she can't stand him, or gets bored, she's got a huge staff to keep him occupied. Maybe they could play Trivial Pursuit.

"Mr. President, what's the capital of India? Uh, no, maybe we shouldn't do Geography. We'll try Sport and Leisure. How do you mix a Black Russian? That's one you should know."

13. do you suppose The Most Hated Man On Earth
is beginning to 'get it' yet?

or is his bubble so opaque that he has know idea that he cannot travel anywhere on the planet (inc. the US) without generating massive protests?

massive ANTI-BUSH, not anti-american protests?

will he be able to campaign publically? at some point he'll have to move beyond the corporate cash grabs...

will he face even his grassroots republican base?

14. Bush to the Queen: "I'm the black sheep of the family" (198?)
This was during a state visit. Dubya introduced himself (he may have had a few drinks before) and then asked the Queen, "Who's your black sheep?"

We've since found out that they're 13th cousins.

I really hope that she turns to him this time, and says: "We've checked. It's still you."

He's probably too damn stupid to know why they're doing it....he'll probably think it's just for fun. Geez! He should never be let loose in public.
