But a solid performance. He was obviously not comfortable with a direct up-or-down response to the question as to whether he regrets his Iraq vote. That was uncomfortable to watch, quite frankly.

and other high-profile Dems, and conscientious Repugs should cook up a stock answer for that question. Something along the lines of "Regret is probably an overstatement. With the situation as it was, and given what we now know were exaggerated claims by the administration, it was probably the right vote at the time. Now the situation has changed, and we need to work toward fixing it".

8. How about telling the truth, for a change? |
|
The only prowar candidate that gets any kudos from me is Joe Lieberman. Holy Joe has been consistent in his defense of his vote for the war. Simply put, Lieberman wanted Saddam out, period!
Lieberman couldn't care less about WMD or the UN, he just thought that Saddam was a really bad guy, and a dangerous one, that the US had to topple Saddam's regime no matter what. Lieberman rightly points out the waffling of the other prowar candidates that are trying to have it both ways.
Although I have been a persistent critic of Lieberman, I have to give him credit for intellectual honesty when compared with the likes of the other prowar candidates.

9. He was still firm in his support of the war |
|
He was never backtracked on that. He was uncomfortable with the fact that there was apparently bad or missrepresented intelligence.
