This #&*@ view of Iraq... |
|
A letter in today's paper is a shared view of many I talk to, and no matter what I say, facts I present or rebuttles I prove, these folks refuse to accept any other view. We'll never change their minds.

A just war in Iraq
President Bush is committed to finishing a just war. Do we forget that we were attacked first? Does anyone really believe that he does not care deeply about the casualties of war?
In a time of instant gratification and instant solutions to complicated problems, at least this president understands the need take decisive and preemptive measures in the Middle East. Bill Clinton strongly stated his concern for growing terror against U.S. forces all over the world (the USS Cole, Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia, the 1993 bombing of the Twin Towers). He did nothing! To send our troops home now is to say that all has been accomplished and all the lives lost have been for nothing.
We then leave Iraq to the Baathists or al-Qaeda. We deal with the terror now, or we deal with a graver danger and loss of lives in the future.

There it is.... Clinton did nothing, Bush is great, the Iraq war is against terror, and Saddam attacked us.

5. It is amazing how many still believe the Iraq-9/11 connection |
|
Do we forget that we were attacked first?
I got into a political discussion (well, more like a lecture) with my realtor. I was carrying on about Iraq when she meekly interjected "but they attacked us".
So I slowed down (while not being condescending, I hope) and filled her in.

7. Some will believe anything the prez says as gospel. |
|
If the gospel is truth, then what the prez says is as far from The Word as one can get. Why doesn't this young lass sign up and become the next Jessica?

She's part of that 65% who think there was a link between 9/11 and Iraq. I got a chain e-mail from a friend saying that everyone should boycott the movie Mystic River because of the views of Sean Penn and Tim Robbins and how they don't support America. The message included a part about "remember we were attacked first", I responed with a link from Fox News with "W" saying there was no link. Figured I had to use Fox News, or the person would think it was from that so called "bised liberal media".
