"It does not tell us who the enemy is" - Zbigniew's editorial in the Post
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A14360-2003Nov7.html

<snip>
Maybe we are resented because we are rich, and we are, or because we are powerful, and we certainly are. But I think anyone who thinks that this is the full explanation is taking the easy way out and engaging in a self-serving justification.

<snip>
War on terrorism reflects, in my view, a rather narrow and extremist vision of foreign policy for a superpower and for a great democracy with genuinely idealistic traditions.

<snip - and my favorite>
It talks about a phenomenon, terrorism, as the enemy while overlooking the fact that terrorism is a technique for killing people. It doesn't tell us who the enemy is. It's as if we said that World War II was not fought against the Nazis but against blitzkrieg.

That last one is so tastey, I have to read it over and over...

1. Excellent Article!
Thanks for the link! This article reflects the same message that Wesley Clark has been speaking about, imo.

2. Never a Zbig fan, but this is good stuff
Many of those with whom we disagreed on certain foreign policy formulations in past years are starting to speak up about this administration's extremism. They have turned the world and our nation upside down with their insanity.

3. We've said this thousands of times
The Bush* Regime just wanted an excuse to use the Neanderthal approach to foreign policy. Their response to 9-11 was never thought through. The logical questions are:

How will we know when we win?

What if we are the terrorists?

Does it matter if we destroy relationships along the way?
