Rumsferatu getting ready to privatize DoD
Here it comes, folks. Outsourcing our Dept of Defense. Don't you feel safer?

In the biggest prospective change at Defense, officials would be able to discard the current 15-grade pay system and replace it with one linking compensation to annual job evaluations. Poor performers would get little or no raise, or perhaps even a pay cut.

Another major change would make it easier to fire or discipline workers by allowing the Pentagon to establish a new internal appeals process under which employees would not automatically be able to take their cases before the independent Merit Systems Protection Board.

The measure also limits employees' collective-bargaining rights. It allows Defense officials to define which managerial decisions would be subject to third-party review and pick both the third party and the standards used in the review.

Pentagon officials say the measure will enable them to reassign as many as 320,000 military members to jobs that are more directly tied to war-fighting and national security, leaving the tasks they had been doing to civil servants or private contractors, or eliminating the positions.

If you're not one of us - you're a terrorist!!

4. Doesn't seem to be any oversight of this administration
Maybe Biden could spend some quality time on
this kind of stuff instead of pontificating.

3. Total (Mind) Control of All Clones
Didn't think there could be much more "surprising" or dangerous from these crazed wingnuts, but this link had it.

But "Rumsferatu" is great. "Darth Rums" is just not evil enough.

6. How about?
The base post exchange becomes a Walmart. Next we put in Burger King/ Pizza Hut/ Taco Bell food courts to replace the mess halls. In fact we could give each base it's very own strip mall. Now that would be good for FREEDOM, 'Merikan style!

7. Oh, wonderful. The same factors that produce employees
who are resentful and disloyal in the private sector are going to be applied in the military. Brilliant.

9. The military is already largely a mercenary force...
One-quarter of the force in Iraq consists of those who signed up to get green cards!

Halliburton is bringing the drinking water... when they can.

No bid contracts!

PMCs (private military contractors) are supposed to replace the military within the military-industrial complex. Kellog Brown Root, Bechtel, Dyncorps, Carlyle, Wackenhut, SAIC...

A whole bunch of U.S. casualties in Colombia are ignored because they weren't military; they were working for PMCs!

The "comforting" thought is that this will probably all crash down under the weight of its own corruption.

Leaving a huge mess and misery. And lots of rich Rumsfelds scot free.

We are going to have to arm ourselves one fine day to protect ourselves from our own military. :eyes:

11. Top command echelon gone
I remember hearing an NPR report around April or May on how nearly all the top level military commanders have been replaced, retired out or otherwise moved aside, so that major changes in military structure could be facilitated. Does anybody remember this hearing story? It was really scary.
