1. I'd rather he be president, but I'll settle for VP!
Unless it's a Lieberman/Gore ticket, in which case I'll vote.... ah, hell, I'll still vote democrat. But I won't like it.

2. I thought about that very scenario a few weeks ago.
Funny! I would certainly not oppose it.

But I think not being a candidate has given him an increased ability to speak without fear of political "fallout".

He may be of greater use to us not running.:)

3. I still envision this possibility.....
Dean will piss off enugh of the other candidates that by the time the convention comes, no one will have 50%, and the possibility still exists that Al Gore may be drafted. Dean would be the VP candidate. General Clark would be the Secretary of Defense. John Kerry can have Secretary of State if he wants it.

4. I'd vote for a Dean/Gore ticket, but I'd rather Al stayed out of this one.
This election can't be about Clinton/Gore and it can't be about Florida 2000. It has to be about the damage done by the Bush Criminal Empire since they stole that election. Al is doing much better for all of us by continuing speeches like he has been doing recently and staying out of the direct campaign.

7. The manufactured Clinton scandals, as well as the 2k selection...
...pale in comparison to what the Repigs have done to this country in 3 years. Gore would've been the strongest candidate had he chosen to run. I respect him and his decision to not run...

5. I love it, actually!
It's one way to help ensure that not a single 2000 Gore voter votes for Bush in 2004.

If we can hold just the Gore votes, we'll basically win... won't we?

:-)

6. Why can't he run for Tennesee Senator again?
No one had a problem with Walter Mondale stepping up to run for Wellstone's seat.

16. I doubt he will
I still thinks he wants to run for president (possibly in 2012?). In the case of Mondale, Minnesota DFLers had been trying to recruit him before (they wanted him to run in 1990, but he wanted the Democrats to recruit new talent).

8. Al Gore gave an awesome speech today
Edited on Sun Nov-09-03 03:44 PM by Virgil
Even without taxpayer supported speechwriters, Al Gore made Chief Chimp look as unAmerican as he truly is in the speech carried by moveon.org today at 2PM.

Al is not going to be any VP again in response to this thread question. But on the subject of Al Gore, he gave a great speech today that every person that reads DU should be interested in. This speech has a link for archives at moveon.org- http://play.rbn.com/?url=moveon/moveon/demand/algore110903.rm&proto=rtsp

The speech is worthy of its own thread and probably has one already. But with the media blockade of the big 5 and their support of the Nazis, it is worth mentioning here to fill in the void by the blockade. Please listen to this speech for a moment of hope and energy to take back our country. And be sure and spread this far and wide as the media companies cannot match the need met by this electrifying speech.

Could someone breifly explain this kick thing? The thread on the speech needs kicking several times if it keeps it in view of the first page.

9. Well, it certainly wouldn't make a hell of a lot of sense to Gore....
Why on earth, would he want to be VP again, especially when he won the 2000 presidential popular vote? Forgive me, sgr2, but this is crazy!

12. Gore for President
Edited on Sun Nov-09-03 03:53 PM by andym
The front-loaded primary system may allow enough
delegates to the candidates to deny the nomination
to anyone.

In that case, Gore, the rightful President,
should be drafted. Hopefully, the other
candidates will stand aside.

And Trippi, genius that he is, should be made
campaign manager.

13. That is uncalled for
Al Gore did win the last election. Even by expunging 70,000 voters, Bush could only win the state of Florida by 500 votes and that is because Harris would not accept some votes 2 hours after her purposeless deadline and because of our Supreme Court, which insisted that this was just a one-time decision. It seems to me that Gore has real purpose when he speaks about hideous programs of the Bushies, today"s being civil liberties. (I loved the quote from Jesus directed to Asscrass.) He is a statesman that should be President. OH, how different our country would be. 9/11 would never have happened, etc.

19. I have had a lot of trauma in my life and a lot of horrible
experiences. However, the selection of 2000 and what happened to Gore and our country, rates as one of my greatest heartbreaks. When I saw him speak today, I kept thinking...this is the REAL president and I wonder how different the world would be if the criminals in the supreme court had not appointed *. I guess we'll never know. I am stunned (almost on a daily basis) that it even happened.

He gets a lot of respect, plus he can say more of what he wants to say than if he was going to run for office and use that respect.

As if he would ever relegate himself to the vice presidency after winning the last election. This whole thread is an insult.
