who are the other 15% of Dean supporters that voted with me? |
|
I bet there are a few Du'ers here that support Dean but voted for spending limits.
My question: Do you still support Dean? Will you support him more or less if he spends less than 45 mill on the primary (the amount that all the other candidates must stay below)?
I only agree wholeheartedly with Dean's opposistion to the Iraq war. On all other issues, DK holds beliefs closer to mine. None the less, I still support Dean. :dem:

I voted to kick federal funds to the curb.
I worked two congressional campaigns during the 1990's which took zero special interest money---it can be done!
Headlines now show Kerry jumping on the Dean-no-fed-funds-bandwagaon.
It's a bold move; Dean's painted Bush as entirely finded by BIG MONEY and there's nothing Bush can do abut it.

4. He can raise the money. |

and he should do so.
The passion of people to remove W* has yet to be truly measured. Donors will be voters. The more the better.
Lots of people are saying it can't work.
But what if it does. What if millions of people fund their own candidate out of their own pockets?
It is a gamble. But the change this would make to the system of participatory democracy in this country is well worth the risk.
Besides supporters the of other candidates don't have anything to worry about. If, as they posit, this cannot work, then their candidate will have the advantage and Dean will go down in flames.
If on the other hand it does work and millions of ordinary people fund the election of the President, well how progressive is that? A President that will be beholden to lots of ordinary people.
It would seem to open the door to other possibilities. New candidates could arise outside the current power brokered system and have a real chance.
