The NFL and dead soldiers
The NFL has started up a collection for the families of dead soldiers at their website. http://www.nfl.com/heroesfund

About damned time. I couldn't believe they didn't say anything during the games last Sunday when the first helicopter came down.

So, is this bad for Bush*? Or doesn't it matter?

1. In my opinion
the purpose is to alleviate guilt of going on as if nothing is happening.

2. Right you are
Especially when one considers that football = pretend war to so many people. Just examine the phrases one hears on any given Sunday - the battle for; the battlefield; the warring teams; no love lost; etc.

"Send the troops some $ thru the NFL...now, kick back with a Bud and enjoy our brand of civilized mayhem."

I'll say one thing for the NFL - their weekly casualty reports are more honest that those coming out of the Pentagon.
