Doozies of 21st Century McCarthyism
The site is www.pabaah.com. The acronym is Patriotic Americans Boycotting Anti-American Hollywood. The nation is, unfortunately, this one. The disgust is my own.

Interesting site I actually registered with (I won't let paranoia overtake my ability to get information) so I can look into their message boards and stuff. But even for unregistered users they have "Easy Mail" forms to send threatening letters to media outlets. Some of them are funnier than they are scary, but they're all inherently scary.

The company protest: The Gap. The problem? Madonna.

<It has come to my attention that you have employed the entertainer Madonna as your company's pitchwoman for upcoming commercials.

I find this person particularly distasteful as she has expressed her anti-American feelings on several occasions. Just recently she thanked FRANCE for it's opposition to America in the UN over Operation Iraqi Freedom! Her anti-war video during this time of crisis featuring President Bush catching a grenade she tosses at him was also offensive to many Americans.

I will not be shopping at your establishments.
I hope in the future you would keep in mind that when you employ such controversial figures you alienate a good part of your customer base.>

I love how FRANCE was ALL CAPITALIZED. Because FRANCE is EVIL!

The company protest: People behind Buffalo Soldiers. The problem? Ed Harris.

<Dear Sir, This is in reference to your movie "Buffalo Soldiers".
As an American I understand that you and your company have freedom to produce anything you wish, no matter how controversial it may be. I will not be spending my hard earned money to view this film. The theme of the movie is anti-American, and is a slap in the face to our brave troops. Also, I can no longer support any project that contain Ed Harris after he made vicious attacks on President Bush during the Iraqi crisis.

You guys make excellent films and I have enjoyed many. Please understand that some Americans cannot and will not forgive what we feel are treasonous acts against our country. Our only way to speak back against these acts is with our wallets. I believe, in the long run, our collective message will be heard. >

....right.

The company: Moore, Hopscotch, and Miramax. The problem? Farenheit 911 (which I hadn't even heard of, but am certain to see now)

<I feel it is my duty to inform you that I will not support your vile project: "Fahrenheit 911".
To make such a film proves your depravity. I will do my best to inform other Americans about this project and to make sure no one pays to see it. To do so would be an insult to the memories of those that were murdered on 9-11.
I do not feel that the murder of about 3000 of our fellow Americans is suitable material for a film that is supposedly satirical and entertaining. I will get the word out, it's my duty.>

Vile depravity! And more invoking of the dead who can't even express their own opinions. And who probably fly in the face of some of the families of the dead.

The company: Anyone advertising with NBC, ABC, or CBS. The problem? NBC, ABC, and CBS.

<To Whom It May Concern: It has come to my attention that your company is currently a sponsor of one or more of the
politically-biased network news shows (specifically ABC, NBC, and CBS). I have vowed
to tune out these networks and their news shows until they replace their current anchors and
cease in their current campaign to discredit President Bush in the eyes of their viewers.
Our country is at war with terrorism and the media attacks on President Bush are not only
irresponsible, but dangerous as well. Their reports promote division within our country at a
time where unity is sorely needed. They also give the impression to our enemies that our
resolve is weak and thus, emboldens their attacks.

We implore you to pull your advertising from these offensive news programs until they are
willing to make the necessary changes to their news broadcasts. Please, show your support
for America and pull your advertising.>

The company: Network news outlets. The problem? Reality.

<I am writing to inform you that I will not tune in to your network's news programs as I find their obvious anti-Bush bias to be offensive and irresponsible.
You are abusing your power in some perverted attempt to influence the minds of your viewers. This is shameful and dangerous. Are you not at all concerned with the type of message are you sending to those viewers around the world, particularly world leaders and the terrorists?
You attempted to discredit a strong leader like President Bush and the War on Terror could have severe ramifications in the future. Stop playing politics and just report the news. Fair and balanced.

I will not tune in until you make drastic changes to your format. I will becontacting your advertisers to inform them of my feelings on this matter as well.>

There are other sites like this too, apparantly. What can I say beyond blech, I'm scared, and... PABAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Douchebags.

1. Yikes
I'm surprised that they haven't protested Hamtaro or Cyborg 009 because they both have French characters. Imagine, children learning that French people aren't evil and that it's good to work together with others who are different.
Love,

2. I wonder if they boycotted
Burger King, for its Croissan'wich. Or anyone serving umm...Freedom Toast.

As for me, I prefer to work through my problems diplomatically. Preferably with a nice piece of French Dark Chocolate. :loveya:
