2 cents on Dean
Go with me a minute here.

Dean is an "insurgent" candidate who has now "insurged."

Can there be a "counter-insurgent" candidate?

Is it possible that people liked Dean MORE as an insurgent candidate and now that he is the clear front runner they will like him less?

Sort of the "cold feet" approach to poltical campaign theory, might not wanna get married to Dean yet.

Like that girl I chased and chased and when I caught her,...blah.

Just throwing out some stuff here.

1. I expected
that the Deanistas would have responded to this thread already.

Anyhow, it is possible and I think it will happen. Who is it going to come from? It will come from Kucinich and Sharpton. Not so much Edwards though. He is kind of a non-confrontational person. Kerry? I see Kerry going after Dean, but the problem with him, and Gephardt as well, is that I do not think they know how to go after him.

That's just my 2 cents.

3. Well if my little theory is correct
Dean will lose something in the transistion from insurgent to heir apparent. This may give Gephardt and Kerry the chisle they need to begin to chip away at him.

12. True...Gep and Kerry have no experience trashing other Democrats.
Dean was known for clashing with them often while he aligned with the GOP in Vermont and against the Dems.

5. Well, the DNC and DLC and the Clintons have been trying to
find the "anti-Dean" candidate for quite a while now -- esp. once they understood the threat he poses to the established order.

So, yeah.

6. Sort of like the more they fought him...
the more popular he became, like some weird Superman arch villan (to the DLC).

Okay the guys up front now. He isn't storming the walls of the castle now, he's stormed 'em. He's made it to the top of the heap, but staying there is another matter entirely. The media will be gunning for him, not because they are biased but because they see it as their job to vet him.

Now comes the harder part.

7. He still has walls to storm.
The way people are coming at him these days would indicate that he still has more then a few left.

10. if 15% opted for spending limits
and 14% stay with Dean after Dean abandons the limit, then I think DFA is in good shape. That 1% loss can be made up after the primary.

11. No
Because his campaign is about more than just Dean. That is the point that so may of you seem to be missing.

Dean connected with the anger and disatisfaction so many Democrats have been experiencing the last few years. Anger not only with Bush, but with incompetent Democratic politicians who are viewed as caving. When these same politicians attack Dean, often using divisive or deceptive tactics to do so--or even adopting Republican positions, Dean's supporters are even more adamant in defense of Dean and his grassroots campaign.
