On April 15, 2003, Bush said his proposed tax cut would create 1.4 million new jobs by the end of 2004:
"It is important for you all to understand and for our fellow Americans to understand, the tax relief I have proposed and will push for until enacted -- (applause) -- will create 1.4 million new jobs by the end of 2004. (Applause.)"http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2003/04/20030415-2.htmlOn August 2, 2003, speaking of his recent tax cuts and incentives, Bush claimed his policies had already exceededf predictions by reducing the unemployment rate by 1%, or 1.5 million jobs:
"We are starting to see results from our actions. My administration's economists believe that if we had not passed tax relief, our unemployment rate would have been nearly one percentage point higher, and as many as 1.5 million Americans would not have the jobs they have today."http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2003/08/20030802.htmlCan he claim credited twice for his policies? IE, can more than the 1.4 million jobs be delivered, then change his tune and say the tax cuts didn't prevent job loss, but rather bring about job growth? Can he, while employment numbers are bad, say they'd be worse without tax cuts, then on "less bad" news claim credit for "improvement"?
