Mancow - "Drop a nuclear bomb on Iraq"
Edited on Mon Nov-10-03 09:40 AM by AWD
This morning on Mancow, Chris Matthews was the guest. Mancow tried to compare the Iraq war wo WWII. Matthews said "we dropped a nuclear bomb to end the war the way we needed to"

Mancow - "Yeah. Let's do that now!"

Later, Mancow refused to admit that Bush said there was no connection between Iraq and 9/11. He kept diverting attention to other things.

on edit - I guess that whole "we're there to liberate the Iraqi people" argument is out the window, huh?

1. How the hell do these people get jobs on TV
I know, it's a rhetorical question in the age of corporate media. But still... how the hell? Denial ain't just a river in Egypt!

20. Yep, which leads to one of my favorite Frank Zappa quotes...
"There will never be an all out nuclear war. There is too much real estate involved."

Gawd I miss him.

15. Stern's already there...
he jumped our ship about a year ago, he's a right-wing nutjob in disguise...it's all ratings though for him...he's losing a lot of business to the hate-radio guys and Stern got on the bandwagon about 1 year ago.

9. Mancow is, I don't know, really stupid
This guy used to get on in Rhode Island at a now defunct radio station called 99.7 The Edge that carried his show from Chicago. At first I thought his show was pretty funny, then one day I heard him get into politics. Good Grief what a moron. I couldn't stand him anymore after that. He is the kind of guy that will find some hoax spam email railing against the Clintons and treat it like the gospel. He was also terribly homophobic. Then surprise surprise I see his mug one day on Fox & Friends.

Mancow - "Yeah. Let's do that now!"

Some folks were recommending the same thing during the Vietnam War.

12. Just to nitpick
But the bombs that were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were atomic bombs, not nuclear bombs. But I suppose such historical minutiae doesn't really interest the likes of Tweety or Cowman.

14. They were nuclear bombs
We generally think of a nuclear bomb as thermonuclear devices such as the Hyrdogen bomb. However, all fission and fusion devices are nuclear devices.

"Nuclear device
Nu´cle`ar dev´ice
n. 1. an explosive device, whether used as a weapon or for other purposes, which depends for most of its explosive power on the release of energy from within atomic nuclei. A fission device or a fusion device."
entry from <http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Nuclear%20device>

"The earliest name for such a weapon appears to be 'atomic bomb'. This has been criticized as a misnomer since all chemical explosives generate energy from reactions between atoms - that is, between intact atoms consisting of both the atomic nucleus and electron shells. Further the fission weapon to which 'atomic bomb' is applied is no more 'atomic' than fusion weapons are. However the name is firmly attached to the pure fission weapon, and well accepted by historians, the public, and by the scientists who created the first nuclear weapons.
Since the distinguishing feature of both fission and fusion weapons is that they release energy from transformations of the atomic nucleus, the best general term for all types of these explosive devices is 'nuclear weapon'."
(Carey Sublette - Nuclear Weapons Frequently Asked Questions)

And my first post-Patriot Act trip to the High Energy Weapon Archive (<http://nuclearweaponarchive.org>) has just set off some bells at Homeland Security.

13. Mancow is a fucking moron
Which sucks because Q101 in Chicago (the mothership station for his horseshit) is an awesome radio station.

I can't understand why anyone would listen to that filth. Turn the station, quickly! Mike & Mike in the Morning on ESPN Radio is very good.

22. As if we really bought into their sudden concern for the Iraqi people....
I mean c'mon. The fuckers don't even care about the needy and oppressed in their own country and they expect us to believe that can barely sleep at night worrying about the oppression that the Iraqis suffered under Saddam?

Give me a fucking break. I never bought that unwashed bill of goods they were trying to pass off as compassion anyway.

23. One thing you gotta understand about Mancow
"Mancow" is a character he plays on radio. "Mancow" is not his authentic opinions about ANYTHING, but is just a man-cow hybrid who says whatever he can to stir things up, piss people off, and be outrageous.

In this he is much like Rush Limbaugh.
