totally. If he was going to talk to a group of racists, I would expect him/her to condemn racism.

2. Of course not.
No Dem is going to do that, and Dean certainly didn't.

And I suggest this thread be allowed to sink like a stone.

7. The world doesn't revolve around Dean
This is to see what the posters here would do if a Democratic candidate went to Bob Jones University or ran an ad similar to the Willie Horton ad used by Bush 41 in 1988.

10. In that case, no I never would support racist pandering
Sorry if I jumped to conclusions, but this does bring to mind some other threads that have been cropping up recently. And Dean made a mistake when using a charged symbol in his reaching out to poor southerners, but his intent was and still is sound.

11. What's the difference between that...
And the ones who pander to repugs? It's no wonder the majority of American voters are so turned off by politics that they don't even bother to vote.

22. You specified a Dem candidate, didn't you?
Pandering is what I have a problem with, moreso than the implied racism. If you can't earn people's votes by honestly putting your proposals in front of them, what are you running for?

25. Ok, thanks for clarifying that
The difference, IMO, is that racists are rephrensible people with an absurd viewpoint whereas Republicans are people with a different viewpoints, but valid ones(at least the rich ones).

15. Nope, But It Doesn't Look Like A Problem To Me
Since I don't see anyone in our candidate ranks who is actively trolling the roster of the Klan or the Aryan Nation, I don't think we're in any danger.

18. No, and I have not seen Dean or any other DEMS do this...
I am not a Dean supporter, that is, he is not my 1st choice- but you are confusing his tactics with the ones Bush uses.

The GOP wants the "Rednecks" to forever be divided from Southern Blacks- Dean wants to bring them together and look out for interests of all poor southerners.

I see the difference, but the media, GOP and many DEMS apparently do not.

20. Pandering? No.
That means telling them what they want to hear, and that means they'd be making racist comments. Not something that will get a Democratic candidate very far now will it?

26. Still no
It's not going to get us very far even if it was close. I think you'd lose more reasonable people than racists you'd pick up. Those folks don't like Democrats to begin with.

34. There is something wrong with this question
No Democrat is going to pander to Racists. If this in reference to Dean's statement he did not mean racists. I think we all know a true Racist loathes the Democratic Party since we are seeen by true Racists as the great Betrayers. This is very touchy subject and to be free to discuss it is not possible. Suffice it to say that everyone who drives a pickup and owns a confederate flag is not a racist. Are we saying we shall not talk with southerners. If a Democrat would hold such a meeting rest assured no true racist would attend.

Which of the southern stats held a referrenum on flying the Flat and a bit turnout occured--one thir of the Black Population supported flying the flag.
