There's One Surefire Way Howard Dean Can Win The White House
Name Colin Powell his running mate.

Powell leaving to Bush's opponent will be seen as a fatal blow to Bush, no matter how well or badly either the economy or Iraq is going.

Is he YOUR perfect choice for VP? No.

Is he MY perfect choice? No.

But he's the one surefire, 100% GUARANTEED way that we can win the White House.

You get your Howard Dean, your left-leaning centerist with no war credentials. And you get your Colin Powell, the most popular and respected man in the Bush white house with Americans of either party.

I'm sure Powell wants out of that White House by now. And maybe he has enough pride to wanna make the switch?

Who knows?

Is this a likely scenario? No.

But it's worth contemplating because some phone calls should be made once Powell gives indications he wants out after Bush's first term.

1. Powell lied to the UN.
He belongs in prison not on a ticket with Howard Dean.

2. what makes you think Powell would join the ticket?
what makes you think Powell would join the ticket?

Furthermore, the worst thing we can do is present too conservative a ticket. That's what happened in 2000, with massive amounts of leftists voting Green.

6. and how many leftists aren't supporting Howard Dean?
Right now? And how many won't vote for him just to get Bush/Cheney out of office.

Any liberal/leftist who wouldn't vote for a Dean/Powell ticket in 2004 to defeat Bush/Cheney shouldn't call themselves a liberal.

They're machocists. Or however you spell it. :)

14. Pardon the pun...
but I'd say minority voters are a bit more discriminating than that.

Bustamente couldn't do it in California.

4. Powell is beneath contempt
I grant that the political implications are interesting, but Powell has none of the qualities necessary to be a civil servant of any degree.

5. First of all, Colon Foul is a Bushevik Whore to the Core!
He would never desert those who have helped him steal so much $$$ and elevated his son the Duke to Minister of Media Consolidation.

It would look awful for Dean to go to this Bushevik Traitor, he of the Perjured UN Presentation and then get told to ake a hike.

No way.

Never happen. Dean (or whoeevr eventually gets the nomination would be CRAZY BATSHIT to even try such a thing.

13. and imagine
what Powell could say if he said he loved his country and couldn't stand to see it being taken in a place it shouldn't be taken to.

Blah, blah, blah, I think we need to change course and Bush won't take my advice.

Bim, boom, bam. You got your perfect tv news melodrama. :)

22. The whole point is, Colon Foul WOULD NEVER DO THAT!
He has sold out to this cabal lock, stock, and barrel.

You might as well have asked "Greasy Thumb" Guzek to sell out Al Capone.

Sure, it would be great of it happened, but as the old saying goes:

"If the Wooden Horse of Troy had foaled, horses today would cost less to feed."

9. I'd go green
The problem with a crossover (Powell or McCain <or Clark - damn, I'm a bitch today!>) is that the receiving party (us, the dems) tend to think, "we don't need him." and the defected party tends to think, "traitor!"
I'd go with Richardson, Clark, Braun, Gephardt, Graham, or Michael Moore (the AG from MS) to run for vp w/ Dean.

If Dean does what worked for Carter (whistlestop the whole country) he can be assured the presidency. Powell is a spineless traitor!

12. Ummm, no.
Absolutely no, no, no, no!!!!

Powell helped to bring about the deaths of more than 10,000 innocent Iraqi women, children, and other innocent civilians - and he continues to increase the count each day. His hands are bloody, his soul is black.

Powell belongs in chains, prostrated in front of the Hague along with Bush and the rest of the evil cabal.

Wesley Clark on the other hand........ well, that's a whole different perspective.

15. yeah sure
But he'll get us the White House. He'll get that "Dems are soft on defense" albatross off our backs and he'll be the first Black vice president.

How many more bases can we cover with one single candidate?

Edited on Mon Nov-10-03 06:05 PM by Melinda
Educate me, k?

Heck, let's extrapolate that thought... would we even be in this bloody mess if Ronnie Raygun hadn't turned tail and run from Beirut?*

*rhetorical question posted especially for his sycophant followers lurking amongst us. Not meant for serious dicussion from me - I am virulantly anti-war.

Condoleeza Rice. They both are shills for this adminstration. Powell has had ample opportunity to bail but he hasn't.

17. Why give the Bushies an inside man
in a Dean administration? Standard procedure is to make it hard work for them to plant moles and recruit turncoats, not give them an office down the hall.

23. I want Powell as VP again like I want a molten barbwire enema
This sleazy SOB lied to the American people, to the UN, to the international community and even to himself if he is unhappy in his current position.

He can best serve by retiring and going AWAY.
