Confirmed judges: anybody have the numbers?
Does anyone know how many judges Clinton attempted to have placed, and how many actually made it, and the same for Bush so far? Link?

A Manufactured Crisis on Judges

Published: November 10, 2003

Conservative activists have been demanding that Senate Republicans do more to push through the Bush administration's most extreme judicial nominees. So the Republican leadership is planning a 30-hour talk marathon later this week to protest the Democrats' blocking of a handful of candidates. To up the public-relations quotient, there may be calls for votes on three controversial female nominees. Lost amid the grandstanding about a "crisis" in judicial nominations are the facts: 168 Bush nominees have been confirmed and only four rejected, a far better percentage than for President Bill Clinton.

Bush administration nominees have been moving through the Senate at a rapid clip: in his first three years in office, President Bush has gotten more judges confirmed than President Ronald Reagan did in his first four. When Republicans controlled the Senate, more than 60 Clinton administration judicial candidates were blocked.

4. Beyond laughable.
If you extrapolate, Pugs block 4x as many judges. Beyond hypocritical.

(Math= Clinton, 8 years/60 judges= 7.5 per year. Chimp 4/2= 2 per year. 7.5/2= appx. 4x)

5. It's even worse than that. Clinton nominated many moderates
and * has been nominating a lot of wingnuts. So the rejection rate for extremists should be MUCH higher than for moderates. Instead it is much lower.

I watched him for hours...very entertaining! The repubs are saying they never filibustered Clinton's judges...uhhhh, NOOOO, they just wouldn't let them get to the floor. No hearings, period! Just a little disingenuous, would you say?

The number of Clinton nominated judges who were blocked from having hearings or votes by Orrin Hatch and the Republican Senate.

And don't buy the okie doke the Republicans are trying to sell that they never filibustered Clinton judges. They didn't HAVE to filibuster since they controlled the Judiciary Committee and the Senate floor. If they didn't like a nominee, that nominee just never got a hearing. If by some good fortune, they got out of Committee, they were stalled on the floor. Some of Clinton's judges were left hanging FOR YEARS!
