A Message From Dick Cheney |
|
I needed a good laugh today! Found it in my e-mail; urging me to send shrub money - here's a tidbit:
But let us make no mistake ... this battle will be hard fought. And there is little doubt that it will be close. The outcome could hinge on as few as 10,000 total votes in key states across the country.
The Democrats and their liberal special interest allies have been using fiery rhetoric that sharply illustrates what is at stake in this election.
Not a single day has passed that the Democratic presidential candidates, the Democratic Party and their liberal allies haven't called into question the President's character, his veracity, even the President's leadership on the War on Terrorism.
Yet, our President has remained focused on the people's business, winning the War on Terrorism, cutting taxes, working to create jobs and a strong economic recovery, reforming public education, and improving Medicare.
Our choices are clear. If you believe President Bush is the right man for the challenges that America faces today, please join the Bush-Cheney team with your contribution of $204, $104, or $54 today. Your support is needed to ensure we have the means to share the President's message with the American people and correct the Democrats' mischaracterization of the Bush-Cheney record.

6. What's with the $XX4 Amounts? |
|
Is this to connote 4 more years? Or 4 PNAC advisers to lead them all?
And why are they all of a sudden slumming for the low amounts? I thought their entire strategy was based on getting Uber Pioneer Patriots or whatever to work a Ponzi scheme on all of their friends, each uber-patriot pledged to bring in some ungodly amount of money, so as not to have to deal directly with the unwashed.

The Pioneer Patriots get special perks and attend the $2000/plate shoulder-rubbing fundraisers that bush is so good at. The "great unwashed" are also tapped for funds, but more importantly for their loyalty. If you donate money to candidate shrub, you're going to be less likely to defect -- i.e., you're already "locked in" on having shrub dictate to you for another term.
Surprisingly, the GOP gets a lot of its money from small-timers.

14. "Their liberal special interest allies" |
|
You mean special interests like the environment...oh wait...protecting the environment is in the interest of everyone in the long term.
Or perhaps you mean the disabled, or the GLBT community, or the working class. Damn, those special interests are just killing us all for their own selfish reasons. Why can't people just stick to supporting groups that always benefit everyone, like the wealthiest one percent or Conservative Christian organizations. :eyes:
Few things are so horribly ironic as the fact that conservatives/republicans try to use the term "special interests" against liberal causes.
