How to confront chickenhawks
I have a suggestion to those of you with chickenhawk friends, relatives or colleagues. The next time one of these folks starts banging the table about the virtues of ever more war in the Middle East, quietly invite them to enlist in the armed forces. You can print out several of these enlistment forms at this website:

http://usmilitary.about.com/library/milinfo/blenlistmentcontract.htm

Just carry a packet of them around with you everywhere you go. When the chickenhawks start to squawk just hand them an enlistment form and politely ask them to put their money where their mouths are.

1. That's a great idea,
have you done it at all so far, and what was the reaction if you have?

3. One out: active duty enlistment age limits
The one "out" Chickenhawks have is "Gosh - sorry I'm just a little too old to enlist now - even though I'd love to if I could..."

http://usmilitary.about.com/library/weekly/aa082701a.htm

Age. One would think that age would be a simple category. One is either old enough, or too old, right? Unfortunately, it doesn't quite work that way. By federal law (10 U.S.C., 510), the minimum age for enlistment in the United States Military is 17 (with parental consent) and the maximum age is 35. This is to ensure than anyone who enlists on active duty can be eligible for retirement (20 years of service) at the mandatory age of 55 (60 in some cases). However, DOD policy allows the individual services to specify the maximum age of enlistment based upon their own unique requirements. The individual services have set the following maximum ages for non-prior service enlistment:

Army - 34
Air Force - 27
Navy - 34
Marines - 28
Coast Guard - 27

6. There are also waivers.
And there are plenty of non-military and non-governmental agencies that can put your ancient, patriotic ass right at the front lines in the fight for freedom.

Or oil, take your pick.

(For the sincere, there is always plenty of work in medical/humanitarian support, over much of the planet.)

5. Have a pre-addressed envelope with a stamp on it, too.
And mention that the post office is on your way home.

Pugs always wither under pressure.
