Dean's success has led to an economic downturn for other candidate's staff
Edited on Tue Nov-11-03 04:11 AM by pruner
in the past week:

Gephardt's staff has been asked to take a pay cut because of Dean's success in fundraising and Kerry's campaign manager was fired because of Dean's success at campaigning.

the funny thing is that Joe Trippi, Dean's campaign manager, is working for free*.

:)

* his firm gets a commission (standard practice) on the ad buying they do, but at the time Trippi joined the campaign he couldn't have envisioned the amount of ad buying Dean would be doing…and the campaign does not do all their ad buying from Trippi's firm.

1. so Trippi is campaigning for money...?
Whereas someone who may make a salary working for a campaign. They get no more money for bringing in more money.

The more money Trippi brings into the campaing the more ads Dean buys and the more money Trippi's firm gets, resulting in more money for Trippi?

hmmm
TWL :)

9. He's like a salesman working on commission -
which really sums up Dean's campaign. While they might be able to sell their product in the primary, sales are going to plummet in the general election.

6. So, The Better Dean Does, The Better Trippi's Commission Is?
So, if Trippi continues to do an excellent job, the more ads that can be bought, and he gets more commission? Pay comensurate with job well done? How antiAmerican! The American way is a big fat salary for draining the company that employs you!

10. Commissions can corrupt.
One of the factors contributing to the savings and loan crisis - loan officers were paid commissions for the loans they made. This led to billions of dollars in bad loans with the taxpayer left holding the bag.

13. you clearly...
.... have about as much a clue about the S&L crisis and what drove it as you do about the current primary and why your guy, whoever he is, is failing.
