1. Let's see... how to adjust this cartoon for reality |
|
Maybe campaign finance reform as a roadblock, with Bush driving it over it in a tank while the Dems sit behind it. Dean is driving a pickup truck and we have the other candidates in cars of various sizes depending on their earnings. Maybe Kucinich is driving a Yugo while the Republicans are telling him, "what are you complaining about, we said we'd help you upgrade to a Civic." Meanwhile, Joe Trippi is talking to Dean, saying "Your supporters are willing to attach a snowplow to that truck of yours, as long as you promise to build a roadlock that actually works next time."
Ah, if only I could draw.

2. Exactly--the bill was gutted and subverted beyond recognition |
|
by partisans from both sides. McCain can hardly even support it at this point. Dean's decision was tough, but the best choice under the circumstances.
Any bill that still allows corporations to contribute to campaigns AT ALL should be scrapped. We need to start over again with less hedging and more resolve to fight corporate influence.

3. now where was that chart of donations by size? |
|
The one that shows that more than half of Dean's $25 million has been given in amounts less than $200? http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=683955#topIt isn't a bad thing to raise a lot of money, especially if it comes from grassroots supporters.
