Petition Wal-Mart: Pay a Living Wage!
If we get 10,000 signatures we'll deliver to the Wal-Mart shareholders meeting in April.

4. Excellent, thanks....
But I'll bet Wal-Mart will issue a statement like this:

"Wal-Mart is unable to raise salaries or benefits at this time. We will, however, give each employee a boxload of happy-face stickers, which they can cheerfully wear daily at their place of employment..."

7. And how will your petition hurt their bottom line?
Do you honestly thing they give a care what you think? You don't shop there anyway. As long as they have hordes of people shopping there, then they will make $$$ and won't give a fig about your petition. It will go into one of the cross-cut shredders that they sell for $24.99. (NOTE: I do not know actual price. That was not an ad & not to be taken as a serious quote. Hey, I don't want to get sued.) And if anybody doubts that they have hordes of shoppers, take a look at their parking lots. Go inside on a Saturday and look around.

They are introducing self check-outs now. Scan the product yourself and stick the money in a machine, or swipe your credit card. Don't need the checker person at minimum wage, or a bagger. One minimum wage job eliminated, per machine. They do have a "helper" surpervising four machines.

8. ah--the do-nothing approach.
Sorry--just can't stand to watch them screw more people. WalMart, like any other business, responds to pressure. We're demonstrating in PA, and there are demonstrations happening across the country. We'll make a difference. But not by doing nothing.
