6. I don't like it
It disturbed my sleep and made my husband walk in his sleep. I like Restoril a lot better.

7. It's one of the better ones
It induces something like normal sleep and you don't wake up groggy. Like all sleeping meds, it's pretty addictive if you take it for a long time.

10. I prefer Benadryl 50-100 mg
it's OTC and was the standard sleep med for all the patients at the hospital I worked at. Works for me!

2. Here's an excerpt
Edited on Tue Nov-11-03 03:10 PM by htuttle
Note, it's on a compilation type article called 'A Memorial to Politics' that is comprised of short paragraphs on different topics:

Powell's Chemical Equation

Powell described his killer schedule in an interview Thursday with Abdul Rahman Al-Rashed, a reporter for a London-based Saudi newspaper.

"So do you use sleeping tablets to organize yourself?" Al-Rashed asked.

"Yes. Well, I wouldn't call them that," Powell said. "They're a wonderful medication -- not medication. How would you call it? They're called Ambien, which is very good. You don't use Ambien? Everybody here uses Ambien."

Really? Some folks across the river may conclude that explains a lot.

(the bottom link has just the sub-title and one line of text of this snippet-story)

So, everybody here uses Ambien, eh, you drug-addled traitor? Does that include you Busheviks Masters, Emperor Bunnypants* and Heartless Dick?

Of course it does. And of course it explains so much.

15. About the drug-
Ambien: Zolpidem Tartrate
Zolpidem is in a class of drugs called sedative / hypnotics or sleep medications. Zolpidem affects chemicals in your brain that may become unbalanced and cause insomnia. Zolpidem induces sleep and causes relaxation. It is used to treat sleep disorders such as trouble falling asleep, waking up many times during the night, or waking up too early in the morning. Zolpidem is for short-term use only--usually 7 to 10 days. Longer-term use must be monitored closely by a doctor. Zolpidem may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

"may also be used for purposes..." Like if you have a whole planet to destroy?

17. here is the transcript from the State Department website
Following is the transcript of an interview that Secretary of State Colin Powell gave to the Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper November 5:

U.S. Department Of State
Office of the Spokesman
Interview Of Secretary Of State Colin L. Powell
By Abdul Rahman Al-Rashed Of Asharq Al-Awsat
November 5, 2003
Washington, D.C.
4:40 p.m. EST

Secretary Powell: -- from Panama to Nicaragua, from Nicaragua to Honduras, and that's our air base in Honduras, Soto Cono.

So in a helicopter it's Tegucigalpa, then back out to the -- Tegucigalpa to Soto Cono, then Soto Cono to College Station last night, then I had to change all of my software and take out all of the Central American software and put in the Chinese software to give a speech this morning in Texas.

Question: So do you use sleeping tablets to organize yourself?

Secretary Powell: Yes. Well, I wouldn't call them that. They're a wonderful medication -- not medication. How would you call it? They're called ambien, which is very good. You don't use ambien? Everybody here uses ambien.

Question: I use it when I go on trip and long distance travel.

Secretary Powell: Yeah. I didn't need it this time because I was in the same time zone.

Question: I see.

Secretary Powell: It's when I go to your part of the world. I need to get my rest.

link (no other mention of the drug use): http://usinfo.state.gov/topical/pol/terror/texts/03110700.htm

----------------------

I wonder what Powell meant by "everybody".

And he takes it when he is in the Middle East? The drug precautions say you must be prepared to sleep for at least 7 - 8 hours after taking it.

Not only is it an alarmingly stupid practice, but it is even more stupid to openly discuss it. If I were going to try to gain an advantage, either in negotiations or terrorism, I would try to schedule my move 2 hours after Powell's dose.
