Announcing a New Holiday: Chickenhawk Day
Unbelievably, I typed "Chickenhawk Day" into Google and only got one insignifcant hit. How can we honor veterans while snubbing Republicans?

Inspired, I decided to immediately begin campaigning for a new federal holiday that honors the brave politicians who can't defend us from terrorists or George Bush but somehow summoned the courage to courageously recite the Pledge of Allegiance after a California lawsuit struck it down.

This idea popped into my mind just hours ago, but I'll put it on the Internet if the response to this thread is favorable. First question: Do you think it's a good idea?

Next, when should Chickenhawk Day be observed? I think it should fall on a Friday, the day the Bush administration has chosen to deliver any bad news it chooses to release. Furthermore, it might be timed during the period when winter is prolonged if a cowardly groundhog sees his shadow and retreats back into his underground bunker.

Therefore, I think Chickenhawk Day should be observed on the first Friday before or after Groundhog Day (February 2). Celebrating it BEFORE Goundhog Day would place it shortly after Rush Limbaugh's birthday - January 12. (Benedict Arnold was born on January 14. However, he wasn't a true chickenhawk. Rather, he was a traitor.)

Another possibility is July 3, when some chickenhawks are feeling a little guilty as the 4th of July approaches. (George W. Bush, who is both a chickenhawk and a traitor) was born on July 6.) Still another idea is to celebrate Chickenhawk Day on election day, when many chickenhawks are inducted into the inner sanctums of the government they help corrupt.

Unless someone talks me out of it, I'm going to nominated the last Friday in January as Chickenhawk Day.

1. I'd vote for April 1st.
Or February 29th. Actually February 29th is better because it only occurs once every four years and always during a Presidential election year. How appropriate.

2. I like your suggestion
what was the day congress authorized the handover of congressional war powers to bush? For prophylactic war?
