1. Turn Bush into martyr, and get America to hate Africa the
way Americans hated Dallas?

At the risk of sounding morbid (and god forbid this happens -- I want Bush to loose his election, not his life, and I definitely don't want him to be a martyr) he's really walking into a hornets nest in Africa, and I wouldn't be surprised if there were some excitement there. There are people who REALLY hate Bush there. Forget about ME terrorism. It's Africa where seeds of hatred are really being sown.

2. It sure isn't humanitarian aid-rather it is oil and other resources....

....that might be found in the area. When Bush goes anywhere the first thing I think is, "Ok, so where is the oil?"

on edit: If Bush has to send a little bit of food and medicen to get his beloved oil then maybe he can take that off on his taxes as the cost of doing business.

3. I believe it's none of the above
It's damage control. The administration has to know that the public opinion on Iraq sinks lower every day. Even conservatives are beginning to question the motives of the war. But if Bush goes into Liberia to "save the people", then he can point to that when questions about Iraq come up. He'll assert that he went into Iraq to liberate the citizens and hope that the press and the American population will conveniently forget the WMD justifications.

4. Africa is probably the easiest country to rip off!
Look who the American Oil Companies do business with in Nigeria. It's not pretty and the poor people suffer while 1% has all the money.

America loves dictators as long as they don't cross us and do business with corporate America.

It's all about
OIL

6. OIL - Angola/Nigeria/Guinea have new finds
current 1.5 million/day production could easily double - or even hit 4 million/day.

And has Bush ever not been interested in oil?

Problem is unstable gov where rich take all the money and poor stay dirt poor - the model Bush wants for the US - is the standard in these countries now.

We may need some regime change so that the wrong rich do not get the benefits of the oil.
