Party Voting Trends By State, 1940-2000
Edited on Tue Nov-11-03 08:48 PM by elperromagico
The purpose of this chart is to demonstrate the voting trend
by state in each Presidential election since 1940. In some
cases it demonstrates trends which are no longer applicable
(for instance, VT and ME have shown a definite tendency to
vote Democratic in recent years).

This may not be of much significance, but it does present us
with some states (such as AR, WV, or NC) which a Dem could win
under the right circumstances in 2004.

1. Interesting...
The old saying that "So goes Maine, so goes the nation" is largely inaccurate; two far more 'reliable' states, in terms of indicators, are IL and MO. As I recall, the two states combined were wrong just twice in the last century.

Factoid #1675. :P
