Talk radio and RWing media "lynching" Lynch. (good read)

"In her interview with Sawyer, Lynch supposedly says she believes she was manipulated and exploited by the military to build support for the war.

This immediately poses a problem for the people who did the manipulating and the exploiting -- and for the people who believed them. Having a pretty blonde soldier (GI Barbie) to dress up as a war hero is one thing. But having a talking Barbie, and one that doesn't just repeat the little catch phrases burned onto her chip, is another.

So now Private Lynch has to be lynched, a job which the vast right-wing conspiracy has taken up with gusto. A reader wrote in yesterday to tell me that attacking Lynch has suddenly become the topic de jour on conservative talk radio:

One guy just called in and said "Lynch is a disgrace and proof that women shouldn't be in the military."

One caller says he "wanted to punch her teeth out."

Caller just said "She ain't no hero."

It seems our true-blue hawks, who only a few months ago were insisting Jessica Lynch was an American hero, and that anyone who doubted her story was a stinking terrorist lover, are now telling us that Lynch is a national disgrace, and that anyone who believes her is a stinking terrorist lover.

If, as Marx once said, anti-semitism is the socialism of idiots, then clearly, talk radio is the fascism of idiots. (I know, I know -- what other kind is there? But even for idiots these people are idiots.)

Meanwhile, Matt Drudge, who practically made Lynch his personal mascot back when the original myth was unfolding, is now giving good play to stories casting doubt on whether she was raped -- a claim originally made not by Lynch, mind you, but by the Army doctors who examined her after she was rescued. By next week, I wouldn't be surprised if there are conservatives calling their favorite talk shows to say Lynch deserved to be raped."

5. The poor girl

Made into an icon by the right, who are now realizing they would have been better off with a dead hero than a live one capable of telling what actually happened.

She will spend the rest of her life demonized by those who once idolized her. Her crime: not going along with a lie.

NONE of this is her fault.

this trashing must play with the troops? If the RW had any sense they'd keep their mouths shut. But since they don't, it will be fun to see their vitrol of Pvt. Lynch backfire.

7. Sort of begs the question...why aren't these macho thugs proving

their bravery in Iraq? I'm sure there is plenty of room for them to be heroes over there (God help the soldiers stuck depending on these idiots, however). I don't think Rush is too old either and he could stand to lose some of his heft.

8. I saw the interview tonight

.. she doesn't claim to be a hero but she DID say the marines that rescued her were HER heros !!! She just told the truth .. it was not the level of dissing these freepoids are frothing over.

She was not mistreated in the Iraq hostpital .. so they want her to lie, I guess is the answer .. well, doh ..

"fighting for her country"....but she's only 20 for heaven's sake so you can't fault her for the fact that she apparently honestly believes the war was necessary...She has been used for propoganda and she doesn't approve of it....I found her to be a very admirable person....
