Clark campaign is predicting a Clark-Dean race beginning Feb 3
WHERE THINGS STAND

It is the 54th day for the Clark campaign and while Dean’s campaign is getting all the front-page stories on their money and strength, the Clark campaign is still toiling away, gathering its grass-roots support that put it him in the race to begin with. But does Dean affect their strategy? Matt Bennett, campaign spokesman: “It doesn’t affect our strategy at all. Mostly because there is nothing we can do differently.” So as all the candidates are jockeying for position to find out where they stack up against Dean, the Clark campaign is relying on making their biggest impact in the Feb. 3 states and beyond, where they say it comes down to a two-person race: Dean and Clark.

1. my thoughts
Clark is letting Dean knock off Gephardt in IA and Kerry in NH. Then he becomes the alternative to Dean. Somewhat risky, but it may work.

4. I think it is a bad idea....

Clark puling out of Iowa will cost him everything, Dean already now has the union support.

With momentum from winning in NH, probably Iowa, and taking 2nd in SC, I think Dean will have too much momentum after that for Clark to mount much of a run.

5. Yup.
Gep fades after Iowa, either way things go for him there.

Kerry's campaign is dying a slow and painful death as we speak. New Hampshire will do it in.

South Carolina will be won by Clark, which will knock-out Senator Edwards.

Lieberman will fizzle everywhere.

Which leaves Dean, Clark, and whomever else is in of the lower tier.

6. What if Gep wins Iowa?
Not winning anything else will knock him out?

And isn't there more than one primary on the same day as South Carolina?

8. Gep to get major SC endorsement
This could be hype, but it's what I heard.
