Did anyone catch John Kerry on Leno last night? |
|
I heard that he rode on to the stage on a motorcycle while wearing a leather bomber jacket.

1. Yes, he did. And he landed it himself. |
|
Unlike some people and complicated machinery, Kerry was in command.

why he was instrumental in getting the "gropernator" elected?
Did he ask Leno why he never had any of the groped women on his show?
Did he ask Leno why he's a media whore for the Rovinator?
Did he ask Leno why he never mentioned the fact that the gropenator had meetings with Ken Lay, ala Enron?
Did he ask Leno why he supports a fascist regime who rules the U.S.?
Leno...SUCKS! JMCPO

No, I wasn't too happy with the overall impression he made. It seemed to me Sen. Kerry wasted time responding to Leno's mentioning of the crude talking dog puppet and Ho-Ho.
I'd have consulted him to spend ALL his time getting his message across: Competence. Competence. Competence. When asked what he would do if President about Iraq, Sen. Kerry explained how he would approach his contacts in the UN and explain that the mission in Iraq was important for all the world. And for participating in the rebuilding process, all the UN nations would benefit, not just Halliburton.
So, yes: JK DID do a good job of blasting the unelected fraud by contrasting his own approach to leadership. And the guy did drive his own Harley Davidson. Not too many people his age even ride a bike.

i don't believe that bike he rode was actually his. he has a harley of his own, but the one he drove into the studio didn't belong to him. while i agree with you on wasting time talking about things not important such as that dog triumph, remember, it's still an entertainment show so you can expect much from it. it's one reason i didn't really watch it especially since i don't really care much for leno. i would like to see him on david letterman though. but jay leno gets m uch better ratings for some reason than dave so you will see most candidates more likely to go on leno probably.

11. Sen. Kerry compared chins. |
|
He got off the bike and said it's nice that people from Massachusetts with big chins could hang out together (something like that).
Thanks for the info on the bike. Having once owned the ugliest motorcycle in California myself, I recognize it is an awesome machine.

He likes to dismiss a candidate's criticism of Bush as political self-interest, so I was curious how that went.

12. Leno said he was a big supporter of Sen. Kerry. |
|
To be honest, I will have to think or see a replay to remember all the Bush angles. The most telling thing was the amount of attention Leno paid Dean. The first question Leno asked was about a motorcycle Kerry sold when he returned from Vietnam. Some guy pulled up in a nice car, asked if he could test the clutch, Kerry hesitatingly allowed him to ride to the end of the driveway and the guy drove off. Kerry looked in the car and saw it had the wires pulled out for jump-starting. He realized then his bike had been stolen and he wanted to be a prosecutor. Leno said it was probably Ho-Ho on the bike.
I'm sorry my memory is a bit hazy still, but I don't recall Leno letting Kerry get any big hits in on Bushler. I do recall Leno let Kerry have free rein while discussing what he would do better than the crazy monkey. In the end, the most important thing was Leno said he was a big supporter of Sen. Kerry.

Especially since Kerry said that Halliburton's profits are the reason Bush won't share the militray burden with other countries that are willing.

a talking puppet. Yes Leno had him upstaged by a puppet (the puppet was a dog). It was very disrespectful. Do you think Leno would have done that to Arnold? I do not think so.

That was no ordinary talking puppet; that was Triumph the Insult Comic Dog (AKA Late Night with Conan O'Brien writer Robert Smigel), and he tore Jay a new one ("You can let The Terminator take over the show, but you a war veteran like John Kerry on after a frigging talking puppet!?") It was GREAT.

23. And Kerry handled it with real class |
|
He made a joke about the dog, and a couple of other things. He was able to change the dynamics of the show, which had been pretty whacky up to that point. I was pretty impressed with that alone, alot of people wouldn't have been able to walk right through it, get some points across and get pretty good applause along the way. Oh, and Toby Keith was on after him. Fun night for Kerry, huh?

another hostile environment and Kerry turns it into a good experience. Shit, he's in a hostile environment right now- down in the polls and not getting the union endoresments! If he can make it through this he'll be a near god!

Edited on Wed Nov-12-03 04:13 PM by TLM
It wasn't even his bike... although it isn't exactly like the kickstand is hard to figure out from bike to bike.
And that was about as far from unscripted as you can get... there's a big difference between no script and a bad script. This was a bad script.

The AP story came out describing the appearance. That encouraged me to leave the TV shut off. I didn't want that episode added to my memory of Senator Kerry.

But to anybody else, he was super dork.
The only way he could have looked more dorky is if he'd pulled out a Magic The Gathering deck.

Probably why people don't think of him this way, every time they hear about his regular-guy side, they don't tune in. The guy on Leno last night was the guy I see chit chatting on C-Span with voters all the time.

The freeper is being a hypocrite because Bush does the same thing.
But the point I get from that is Kerry and Bush are doing the same crap... just like when he stood in front of that air craft carrier. That bugs me.
But what do you expect... they were frat brothers.

They played footage of a stunt rider blowing through the parking guard rail, then driving intothe studio, and then Kerry rides in about 15 feet from back stage up ontot he stage... and then couldn;t even figure out the freken kickstand, had to reach down and flip it out with his hand.
What a putz.
I had hoped they'd make a joke out of it, but they did it serious... like Kerry is really supposed to be some hardcore biker.
I expect next we'll see Gephardt and Liberman trying to bust it out in a rap contest.
