Thereapeutic piling on Sean Hannity thread
I know Hannity gets bashed on a daily basis here, however it seems I get more and more infuriated every time I listen to the guy even though I already know what he is all about. So for the sake of my sanity I am starting a "pile on Sean Hannity" thread. If you'd like to join in, by all means please unleash an almighty pounding of this guy. It's one thing for someone to hold a point of view you disagree with, but being intellectually dishones to the degree Sean Hanntiy is drives me up a wall. He is nothing but a blind partisan pawn at this point.

Let's see:
-Yesterday in his opening monologue he tells us how when he saw George W. Bush give a speech that morning, he was "in awe" of our President. Then he goes into a rant about how unqualified and undignified the Dem candidates are.
- Two days ago he scolded a caller who was against the war by telling him how we have found all of these Mobile Bio Weapons Labs and Botulinim Toxin and if the caller would just read the right newspapers, he would have known this and known that we have been finding plenty of WMDs in Iraq.
- Usually right after he goes into daily rants about how unqualified the Democratic Presidential candidates are, he then throws Hillary's name into the mix to stir up rage in his listeners and keep their hatred of Hillary fresh, then hmmmms and haws about how much "hatred" there is for George W. Bush our fantastic flawless President.
- Oh yeah and he constantly interrupts dissenting callers and tries to throw them off by asking questions that don't have anything to do with the point they are trying to get across.

This is but a small sample of things that dirve me crazy. Sure I should just ignore him and avoid his show at all costs, but when he is basically the sole source of info for Millions of his listeners, I can't ignore it.

2. I can ignore him and I do.
It's the only way to maintain my mental health and normal blood pressure.

Because I HATE SEAN HANNITY. He is just as stupid as stupid gets. Rush is mean, but Sean is just stupid. And he's so stupid that not only does he not think he's stupid, he thinks he's smart and WE'RE stupid.

3. This is nothing but an ad hominem attack
Why must you try to start class warfare? Look, just love George W. Bush, ok? If you dislike him, you clearly hate America.

Isn't that right Alan?

"Yes, Sean. But liberals are, like right, and stuff"

Shut up Alan.

"Ok, Sean. I'm sorry."

5. ahhhh the ad hominem
AL Franken talked about how Hannity out of the blue confronted him one day while he was at Fox News Channel talking about Rush LImbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot. Hannity walked up to Franken and said, "I don't believe in Ad Hominem Attacks". Franken said, "Oh it is just a play on words see, Rush uses ad hominem attacks all the time". Hannity then inisted that Rush has NEVER ONCE used an Ad Hominem attack. Franken immediately brought up the whole Chelsea Clinton White House Dog episode, and Hannity began to insist that it was an honest mistake and that Rush's producer put up the wrong picture. Franken then asked what the joke was supposed to be then? Hannity still insisted that Chelsea's picture was never meant to be up there.

Similar story last week. Hannity sees a New York Post story on how an 8th grader was suspended for drawing a picture of a soldier killing a Taliban fighter. A school administrator calls up the show and tells Sean that the real reason the student was expelled was for other pictures that threatened another student. Hannity simply refuses to buy into the story because it doesn't fit his agenda. He then brings on the mother of the student and continues to act like the reason he was suspended was for drawing a "Patriotic picture", even though he was told at least ten times by the adminsitrator the real reaosn was for a different picture.

6. Yeah, I read that in Franken's book
but it's not just that. Hannity will sit there and attack anything. But to disagree with him is either an ad hominem attack or class warfare. Watch his dumb show. It's guaranteed that he'll use those 2 phrases...incorrectly.

You know, I of course dislike Rush Limbaugh, but his arrogance is such that you know that some of it's bluster. He's playing a character named Rush Limbaugh, or at least in his early days he was. But with Hannity it is just out and out arrogance that has no basis.

13. OMG
Just reading that made me realize that it could be a good comedy bit.
It could be called something like Vanity and Holms and you have a good start on the dialogue already

It's disempowering.

I used to think it was my duty to keep TABS on the freeps. But it isn't. It doesn't pay off.

It is MORE empowering to tune into TRUTH. And let the freeps be damned.

Maybe we could have watch circles -- one day a month, ONE person endures the bullshit, and reports it here. It's soooooo much easier to READ it than to listen to the evil pedantic shrill of their voices.

I mean: it is wise to consider the idea of "working smarter, not harder" when solving any problem. Isn't being all pissed off and disgusted all the time kind of like working HARDER than you need to in order to get the job done. And the JOB is not to HATE the bastards; it's to enlighten the people about the BEST people to replace the Bastards!

7. Amen!
Who has the time to keep up with the daily venom and lies of these people? Unless you can make them go away, obsessing over them is fruitless.

It takes far too much time away from more profitable pursuits, and their fans won't be persuaded by our attacking them anyway.

An old sales manager I had once told me, "Stop worrying about what the competition is doing. You have your own product to sell."

I will say, however, that when I have the TV on in the background in the wee hours, I have been tempted to throw things at it when Scarborough comes on.

(Where's that remote when you REALLY need it?)

11. Callers are hilarious.
I listen because the callers are so mis informed it is funny (sad too). Why does someone do what this guy does? Purely for the money? Instaed of helping this country by informing folks he propogates lies and half truths. He consistently lies to callers when he says WMD have been found. He Has to know, or his staff should tell him, that that is untrue. If I hold up a picture of his children and refer to a zoo scene , will he 'admire' me? He tells ignorant callers that President Clinton could have gotten OSB from Yemen. He does not say that because we are a Country of Laws there was no basis to take him.Someone should tell him that would be against the Law.
I ask how can someone who lives here, raises a family here, can not protect and nurture our Country. He does it for Money? realley???

8. Hannity is the biggest Bush buttkisser there is.
When I had cable I would check out the Hannity and Colmes show sometimes and I couldn't believe how someone can have such hatred for one person (WJC) and salivating adoration for another (Bushy).

I really think Sean Hannity would like to blow Bush* just once if he'd let him.

9. You listen ~ You continue to feed the beast
Turn him off. Why give him your support if you don't agree with him. His show is totally based on ratings and the more listeners he has the higher his ratings. Why cut off your nose to spite your face?

12. This too shall pass, dear friends.
I once commented to a colleague that I thought Rush Limbaugh would go the way of Father Coughlin, the anti-Semitic priest who enjoyed great popularity on the airwaves back in the Depression. When my colleague told me she had never even heard of Coughlin, I saw a glimmer of hope.

This too shall pass. Hannity will not always be on the air. Even Limbaugh, thank God, will not always be on the air. Things shift eventually. We need to keep registering voters, voting, organizing, writing letters to the editor, and giving feedback to the media. Things will shift.
