107 South Carolina students held at gunpoint by the police searching for drugs last Wednesday. The police had there weapons drawn commando style, yet they found NOTHING. Someone posted a picture on here a few days ago from security cameras, but they wouldn't say where they got the image. Click on:

check out the Kathleen Parker thread I started in the Editorials forum...she wrote a good op-ed about the whole incident.

People should be outraged at this new chapter in our dawning police state. But of course, they're not. Read the article. Even right-wingers like Parker are freaked out by this one...but the Wal Mart Nation is too busy waiting for another price rollback on the economy-size Crate O' Twinkies.

I honestly think that with the implimitation of the Patriot Act, and the continous ratcheting up of the drug war over the past twenty years, this kind of occurence is going to become commonplace. I think that it is no coincedence that this type of shakedown occurred at a school first, get the kiddies used to it when they're young, and they won't bitch about it when they're older.
