Kucinich may be preparing to let something rip about Jessica Lynch
I am being told by one of the truthout editors that Kucinich got hold of the unedited videotape of the rescue of Jessica Lynch, and that there is some seriously heavy stuff that got edited out. I have no idea what, and I have no idea when or if this is coming out. I heard this from one of the truthout guys, who heard it on the radio. Basically, keep your eyes open.

I thought we might have "Saving Lynch's Privates" joining these other titles:

"Biological Whorefare"

"A Night In Nastyriya"

"Meet Ahmed Chalabia"

"Bush Wars"

"Missionary Accomplished"

"Enemas of Freedom"

"Operation Iraqi Femdom"

"1001 Arabian Knights"

"Umm, Qasr!"

"Queer and Present Danger"

"Genital Tommy's Frank"

"Imminent Sweat"

"Weapons of (that's just too easy) Destruction"

7. article from June requesting tape
Kucinich seeks videotape of Lynch rescue
WASHINGTON (AP) — Rep. Dennis Kucinich called on the Defense Department on Tuesday to release the unedited footage of the rescue of Pfc. Jessica Lynch from an Iraqi hospital and to answer questions about her injuries.
>snip<
A Defense Department official speaking on the condition of anonymity said Tuesday that it's unlikely that the full tape of the rescue would be released.

It was unclear whether the additional questions about the rescue would be answered. Pentagon officials have played down suggestions that Lynch's rescue was staged or that details were exaggerated. They have never claimed there was fighting inside the hospital, but have said U.S. troops were fired on outside the hospital.

27. Off-topic, but Tim Reynolds wore a homemade Kucinich shirt...
... on Saturday Night Live last Saturday.

Tim Reynolds is an amazing, and influential, guitarist who performs often with Dave Matthews. Tim's shirt was very cool, and I admired him immensely for wearing it during such a high-profile performance.

Back to your discussion now.... sorry 'bout the interruption!

12. Fantastic news! Absolutely incredible the degree of lying that is
The MO of this misadministration. Just contrast Lynch's account (she was no hero - never fired at or struggled with anyone - was never hit or harmed, in fact had an Iraqi nurse that sang to her) with this government account as covered by the Washington Post on April 3 - which claims that Jessica "Would not be taken alive - and was fighting to the death...Iraqi's were stabbing her..." My favorite part is the Repuke Congressman praising this truly fictional, Rove- authored character thusly - "Talk about spunk!!"

http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn?pagename=article&node=&contentId=A14879-2003Apr2¬Found=true

Talk about gall!

Hard to imagine that the American people aren't going to reject BushCo in a huge way - once its finally been spelled out to them that AWOL and his Bushiviks have lied to them in every conceivable fashion!

I sure hope your tip is true.

13. Does anyone agree there was a big difference between Jessica's interview
with Sawyer and the one this morning with Couric?.....I was astounded by the different tone of Jessica's interview with Sawyer (she praised the kindness of the Iraqi hospital staff and said they saved her life) and with Couric the best she would give them was that they "did more good than harm" to her!...With Sawyer she was all smiles when she saw the tape Sawyer showed her of the nurse she said sang lullabies to her and the difference with this morning's interview on the "Today" show was quite striking, I thought! What gives?

41. Damn straight
The body language in this interview was almost unbearably loud.

Here's this 300-pound leather-jacketed, stubble-faced behemoth discredited former reporter-cum-writer sitting next to Ms Lynch, who is probably 95 pounds soaking wet, with her 1980's poofy hair and bright red lipstick, and the guy is literally tapping her leg on camera. I thought he was going to drool on her. He can't have her deviating from the script that is so necessary to keep his crappy book propped up (sales are disappointing thus far.)

Everything about this interview screamed "creep!" from the get-go. I swear, it was like a scene straight out of "The Accused."

33. It probably has to do with her medication

I imagine, I HOPE that she is taking pain medication, and more than usual to deal with the physical stress of doing interviews.

She will be in a wheelchair for a long time, I saw a couple of pics where they had her posed standing up, which is great to see, and understandable that she wants everybody to see that she can do it, but it takes a long long time, even at that age, to get over injuries that extensive.

34. It seemed to me that she was purposely not giving the Iraqi hospital
praise when she talked with Katie....She was on the same medication when she talked to Diane but was very warm in her praise of the Iraqi medical staff....You couldn't help but notice the difference and I was wondering why...Have they given her a hard time because she praised the Iraqis???...I just wondered....She looks so young and vulnerable...your heart goes out to her.

17. Kucinich
Dennis is a bit of an inflammatory leftist idealogue, but he's still a good guy. The reason he's not like Dean is because he gets his attention through being very partisan and oppositional, whereas Dean is more of a leader and uniter. I like Kucinich as a voice from the left fringe of our party and I think he serves an important purpose there, shifting the whole debate away from the "center" (aka Bush-lite candidates) and making Dean look less liberal.

I think Dennis kinda serves as our parties spokesperson on post-war Iraq becuase he is so partisan. If he does indeed have this tape about Jessica Lynch, that could spell bad news for the Bushies and Faux.

Kucinich may be the farthest left of the candidates, but the guy is no extremist.

He stands shoulder to shoulder with, no exaggeration, the interests of probably 50 million Americans working at low wage jobs around the country who deserve a better hand than the one they've been dealt by the current kleptocracy.

42. *shakes head and sighs*
You know, I work hard to be civil, respectful and just plain decent to others, but this kind of comment does upset me.

"inflammatory leftist idealogue,", "The reason he's not like Dean is because he gets his attention through being very partisan and oppositional, whereas Dean is more of a leader and uniter.", "I like Kucinich as a voice from the left fringe of our party"

Every last one of those is so off-base it's frightening. Number one, Kucinich is generally the LEAST inflammatory of them all. Number two, Kucinich is not in the least partisan or oppositional. In point of fact he's the sole candidate who DOESN'T deliberately use divisive language in his statements, not that anyone but his supporters notice. Number three, I am not fecking fringe left! I resent the implication that he's a voice for me because I'm some sort of left-leaning extremist. He speaks the facts on every last issue that I find important, so in effect you've accused me of being a "fringe-Democrat". I both reject and resent the classification.

Now I blew a gasket in here (different thread same board) the other day, and I'm struggling to keep that from happening again, so if I fall short I hope everyone will understand.

When does Dennis Kucinich bring up Party affiliation? SHOW ME, because I've NEVER seen it. Partisan my arse! When does he EVER use ANY divisive language? SHOW ME. "Fringe left"- Oh, OK, so now it's "fringe left" to believe in and fight for workers rights, environmental protections, fair trade based on human and environmental rights, and Universal healthcare? Fringe....well Jeebus H. Criminy, I hope that effin' "fringe" takes over for good then!

Anyone else notice that she looks like she's wearing lipstick and mascara when they took her out?

Maybe the scene with the boom mike dropping into the screen is in the outtakes.

Or perhaps there's a shot of the clapper and the director sitting in his canvas chair.

40. I saw a longer version...
of the tape over on BBC America WITH the sound -- it was disgusting.

It showed someone placing the flag on her chest, then a voice off-camera starts directing her to come on and smile, smile for her family. Her eyes are terrified but she puts on this "grimace" that passes for a smile.

It came off more like a propaganda piece then we'd ever thought.

I wanted to punch that off-camera person out.
