Designing Banners for Bush's London Visit
Someone asked for suggestions for a banner to greet George W. Bush in London, on The Guardian's website at http://talk.guardian.co.uk/WebX?50@@.685eb74b Unfortunately, the thread is so long and congested, I'm not sure how useful it is.

I think one of the most potent would be a U.S. flag with the blue, star-studded canton replaced by a swastika. They should have HUNDREDS of swastikas and stripes flags. Another possibility is Texas' state flag, with a white swastika replacing the star.

Another good idea would be "E pluribus unum." That was the United States' national motto before the religious kooks shoved "In God We Trust" down our throats.

I'd love to see some Jail4Bush.org posters, which would publicize my website (I apologize for my selfishness) and move beyond the insipid "Impeach Bush" chants at the same time. Bush obviously deserves far more than impeachment.

Another really effective design would be a solid black banner with the word "oil" in white letters, perhaps with a dollar sign or drops of blood.

Banners promoting Linux, perhaps with the Penguin logo, would be a slap at both Microsoft and corporate greed in general.

I hope they burn a few flags, too.

1. I like all your ideas ~ The more outlandish the better
Those are the ones that will get the limelight. The all black banner with white letters spelling out OIL is a very good one. A dollar sign at each end would be a really nice touch. Europeans Rock Why can't we put together something like that here?

2. uh - "Banners promoting Linux, perhaps with the Penguin logo"
that one would probably prompt a lot of "uh, did you go to the wrong protest? BUSH! Not Gates!"

3. actually for london....
the target market is "british and european media" who will look to evidence the incredible break between the british public and a prime minister bush-poodle.

"Master, Where's your leash?" with a picture of a union-jack poodle with blair's face... the spin of the protest needs to break out the british public majority that would not cooperate with neocons on any terms whatsoever.

"Criminal murderer and accomplace" with blair and bush's photo. Be sure to use howard also, as the tories are the natural criminal republicans of britain, not to be missed in a bash on evil government... as they are neocons in waiting for blair's slipups.

"God bless the murderer" with bush and the queen covered in blood... a fond memory for brits... perhaps a bunch of turban'ed heads on poles dripping blood.

"rabies alert: quarantine bush" Give him the 6 month treatment....

"The french are better lovers than AWOL criminals."
"American justice is a joke, OJ-bush is free."
"How many more people did you kill today."
"666 bush satan"
"Oh satanic bush, give us your blood-stained wisdom."
"Tories and GOP: the nasty party"
"Margaret thatcher is not britain, sorry."
"American yobs, WELCOME"

Its important to show the relationship between shrub and britain is really with the tories, otherwise, the left is killing its own by attacking labour... but the crack to be found is to break the british impulse to poodle. This will isolate shrub and his evil henchmen in an increasinly sticky spiral of decline.
