Ask your Senators to Fix the Patriot Act with the SAFE Act
SECURITY AND FREEDOM ENSURED ACT (S. 1709), SAFE ACT, sponsored by
Sen. Craig (R-ID) and Sen. Durbin (D-IL) is proposed to reverse extreme
aspects of the Patriot Act.

It would cause more of the Patriot Act to expire in 2005.

Please email or call your Senators to support the SAFE Act.

You can find contact information for representatives at:
http://www.vote-smart.org/

You can read more about the SAFE Act at:

1. Craig is supporting it?
Then again, Idaho is home to many extreme Libertarian types (militias, etc.) who despise the federal government.

4. and while you're at it,
Send some campaign $$ to Senator Russ Feingold of Wisconsin, who was the ONLY Senator who had the courage to vote against the Patriot Act. The ONLY ONE!

and the Repugs have indicated that he'll be a major target this next year as he goes for re-election.

:grr:

and tries to carry his legacy forward.

(on edit - that 'cry' looks more sarcastic than anything - definitely not meant that way - I actually WAS tearing up when I was thinking about Paul Wellstone)

7. Senator Larry Craig of Idaho
Senator Larry Craig of Idaho has only voted with the ACLU 22% of the time (based on a 1996 webpage), but apparently even he thinks the Patriot Act goes too far.
