Why are freepers so convinced that race is the left's weak point?

Freepers are so confused about race, they think it's where all the irrationalities of the left come to a head. I think of race as where it all comes together. And I also think the black man is the canary in the coalmine of American democracy. If we have 40% unemployment rates in some cities for black men, we're all in trouble.

I listen to these guys as time permits and I always hear that Blacks are on the plantation. If anything they claim that the Blacks are owned by the Democratic party.

...impossible to answer when they ask you about race, as if there's no logical explanation for why a person who cares about democracy would care to address racism.
