Did another right-wing talk radio host bite the dust?
Edited on Wed Nov-12-03 11:10 PM by The Backlash Cometh
This was reported in the Houston Chronicle:

Talk show host Jon Matthews indicted on indecency with a child charge

RICHMOND -- Radio talk show host Jon Matthews was arrested in Sugar Land today and charged with one count of indecency with a child.

After weeks of speculation, he was indicted by a Fort Bend County jury and taken into custody at 3 p.m. today. Indecency with a child is a third-degree felony.

KSEV-AM 700 pulled the 59-year-old broadcaster off the air on Oct. 24 when the station's owner learned that Matthews was being investigated by Sugar Land police because of an "allegation from a community member." He had been the host of a weekday news show from 6 to 9 a.m.

Details have been slow to emerge in the investigation, and the Houston Chronicle had requested a copy of the police report under the Texas Public Information Act. State law says police departments cannot withhold basic information such as the date and location of an alleged incident and a description of the offense.

Then I did a search on the net and came up with this:

"Jon Matthews, the host of the show, is a conservative, pro-life =
Christian. Jon has invited me and Pastor S---- F----- (founder of the brand new Pastors for Life) to come on the show to talk about the
Coalition's latest project - kicking Planned Parenthood out of Houston"

Does anybody know anything about this Jon Matthews fellow?

1. I had to post to my own thread because it's time for beddie bye.
This has to be the I-told-you-so story of the year. If I'm reading this correctly, we have a Christian right-winger who was vehemently opposed to Planned Parenthood AND who was indicted with one count of indeceny on a child.

Words fail me...

9. I've always thought that there's something suspect about...
...people who get so very, very worked up about protecting the precious, innocent *children* while simultaneously foaming about terrible depraved sex practices.

5. Jon Matthews
I've heard Matthews spew, rant & rave on the radio. He's a mofo'ing @sshole. <rant>Gee, why is it that conservatives & crime go together?</rant> And as for his wet dream of "kicking Planned Parenthood out of Houston", it "ain't" going to happen.

6. There's a prison nearby in Sugarland.
They won't have to ship him out too far. Here's an old clip about Gov. Shrub going to their prison ministry there:
(SNIP)
Last April Prison Fellowship opened the first "Christian prison" in America. It’s in a special wing of a minimum security prison called Jester II in Sugarland, Texas. The program is called InnerChange, and its goal is nothing less than the transformation of inmates’ hearts.

Except for prison security, virtually every aspect of the InnerChange wing is run by Prison Fellowship. And the regimen is far from easy. Fifty-seven inmates—many of whom have long rap sheets—volunteered for InnerChange. They get up at 5:00 a.m. every day for devotions. They spend the day working at a job or studying for their high school equivalency exam. They also attend classes to develop their life skills and spiritual maturity. Evenings are filled with more Christian teaching and discipleship seminars that run until 10:00 p.m.

During Phase 2 of the program, inmates must perform community service, and they’re encouraged to apologize and make restitution to their victims. Six months into the program, each inmate is matched with a church volunteer who mentors them during their remaining time in prison. The mentor also spends six months following the inmate’s release, helping them adjust back into the community.

8. Maybe he was opposed to Planned Parenthood because...
he was afraid his prey population would dwindle. Dirtbag.
