Could someone explain this metaphor to me ...
From Salon: Why did Democrats risk the GOP's wrath?
http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2003/11/13/filibuster/index.html

<snip>

Kay Daly, president of Coalition for a Fair Judiciary, a group of 75 groups galvanized by what they considered the rough treatment meted out to Attorney General John Ashcroft during his confirmation hearings. Daly mocked the Democratic explanation that only a few Bush nominees have been blocked. "I love the notion that 'only' a few have been blocked," she said Wednesday. "It's like saying, 'Over here there are five little children who have head colds but there are only two who have malaria.' The fact is that you can't be just a little bit unconstitutional."

<snip>

Head colds, malaria? What the hell is she trying to get across?

1. They're pushing the idea
that not accepting whoever Bush* nominates is so out of the mainstream that it's immoral, illegal and unconstitutional.

3. Keep this in mind, constitutionally, the president has the power to...
nominate, not the power to appoint. The Senate must consent to the nomination first.

Duh.

No excuse is too obtuse for that slime.

Like stupid-ass Rummy comparing deaths in NYC to combat deaths in Iraq.
