Abazaid on CNN: "Saddam worst military planner in history..."
"now way he could plan these attacks" (paraphrased)...

Let me see if I have this right: Saddam knows where Abazaid is, but Abazaid doesn't know...well,

1. Maybe it's all part of the plan John
We let you roll into Baghdad, crow victorious, strut around like peacocks for a while. Then we let our superior patience, knowledge of our people, and national pride take your soldiers out one a day, like a dripping faucet. One year? Two years? Five?

S'all part of the plan.

2. perhaps he was a terrible military planner
or maybe he just didnt have 22nd century hardware and a massive GDP to fund his military imperialism. and maybe, just maybe, he made plans for a guerilla war all along. after all, who can stand up to a regiment of m1a1 abrams in the middle of the desert.

5. My thoughts exactly
I'd bet ten bucks that in some Bush/Iraq meeting someone said

"What we need is a strong, dynamic leader that can hold Iraq together (So we can get the fell out). We might have to accept some dictatorial-ness, but we've accepted that it the past..."

6. More Shadow Boxing
For an "enemy" these brass monkeys claim to know, we sure haven't done much in capturing them or subduing their supporters.

Dropping more bombs in populated areas surely will win those hearts and minds.

Is this propoganda sound as absurd and Vietnamesque to you as it does to me?

7. Hasn't Abazaid ever seen Bush and Rumsfeld in action?
It would be hard to believe Saddam could do worse than:

-Invading a country because they are known to have chemical and biological weapons, but not preparing the troops for any such attack

-Invading a country to help save the Iraqi people but sending soldiers to protect only the oil production facilities, letting looters run wild

-Assume that victory would be a cake walk, when the current president's own father warned about the difficulty ten years earlier

-Declare victory while extending many soldiers' tours of duty and calling in the reserves
