On campaign contributions.
I understand that politics is now almost purely a money game.
I plan to contribute to the Democratic nominee.
I'm retired and I'll have to take money out of my IRA to do it.
I want the most bang for my buck, so I'm not contributing until after the primaries and/or the convention and we have a nominee.
Every nickle I can afford will go to the one person running against Bush.

Two questions:
1. Do you feel the same way?
2. Do you think there is a lot of "pent up demand" (for lack of a better phrase) that will unleash millions of dollars from us little guys once the choice has been made?

2. Yes, I think more and more will give...although I am all for donating
beforehand to ensure a strong candidate. I've donated, and encourage others to donate to their own personal candidate as well. We are all in this together. :)

3. I hope so
I have some money squirreld away to give to the nominee. I might give in the primaries too though.

But then again, Im not too tightly wed to any candidate. I like Clark, Kerry, Edwards and Dean--but none of them that much. I don't like Gephardt much, but I have to be honest and admit that's mostly just my personal reaction to the guy. I don't think Kucinich Sharpton or Mosely Braun has a hope in hell of getting the nomination, and Lieberman, well, I'd support him, but I might support him and buy a new stereo so we are both happy.

4. I think that's where Dean is getting his money.
I'm 45, and before this year, had never contributed more than $20 to any party or candidate.

Bush is the most destructive, divisive, dimwitted, and selfish President we've had in our country's history. The federal budget is a disaster, environmental policies are being thrown away, the US has gone from a peacemaker to a warmonger, the baby-boomers are going to be retiring in large numbers over the next few years and we've done nothing to plan for it....

There are a lot of people like me who are awake to this situation and who aren't so stupid as to believe that we can tax cut our way to economic and societal health. If Bush is reelected in 2004, we're on the road to third-world nation-hood.
