The Most Right-Wing Elected Politician in Canada
I just got home from work, and in my letterbox is a leaflet entitled Bill C-250. The leaflet is a campaign against aforementioned bill, which proposes that homosexuals be specifically protected by the Criminal Code against hate crimes. The leaflet goes on to state that this is an attempt to make it a criminal offence to criticize homosexuality, and is an attempt to censure the bible and all religious texts that discuss homosexual acts.
This leaflet goes on to say that this bill will stop religious leaders and institutions from discussing their faith, and will lead to the banning of religious groups. To reiterate, the Bill attempts to protect gay people from gay bashers. The publisher of the leaflet is Rob Anders, MP for Calgary West. Over the years I have recieved several mailouts from Anders about gay unions, criticising the homeless, and other diatribes that escapes me. This from a guy that formed his own fascist party for his school elections, and is, I have been reliably informed, quite the closet case.
What's ironic is that this bill passed the in House of Commons on Sept 17th. So why is he asking us for feedback? Sorry if this is a rant, but this guy's pious bigotry disgusts me. For those DUers who think that Canada is a liberal oasis, I am afraid to say, we have many of our own idiots, particularly in Alberta.
You know what's really annoying? This guy isn't even my MP.

I'm a Calgarian too and I'm going to be working tooth and nail for the Liberals to get Anders and the other Reform-Alliance MPs (Republican Party of Canada) tossed in the next election. That survey was on the local news last night.

10. Sorry. Didn't see the news last night. How was the coverage?
I'm an NDP supporter (non-party member) myself, but I'll give your guys any help you need, just ask. The best of damned luck in replacing these people. My party can't do it, but maybe yours can. Good to know there's other Calgarian DUers, good to know I'm not alone.

8. The Alliance has NEVER been able to take the pulse of Canadians...
and will remain a marginal regional party, regardless of any further name change they use to try and hide the same bad and unaccepted policies.

9. grrrrr
My plan is to educate people in Calgary-West (I live just over the boundary in Nose Hill) who voted for Anders in the past. If many knew what an extremist radical he really is, they wouldn't vote for him again. This will be my slogan: REject the REgressive REpublican Party of Canada.

12. Forgot this - Anders singlehandedly kiboshed the House of Commons'
attempt to unanimously name Nelson Mandela an honourary citizen of Canada. Anders considers him a Communist Terrorist.
