34. You're right. She figure it out.
Cheney, Bush* and the whole cabal came to Louisiana trying to unseat her. They spent gazillions trying to get HorseFace Terrell elected and Landrieu won.

Landrieu KNOWS that kissing Smirky's ass is a one way ticket to hell.

My god, Mary is kicking some serious ass tonight -- she is impressing the hell out of me tonight. I'm sure everyone from Louisiana who voted for her is feeling proud right now.

We need to get "I WILL NOT YIELD!" on t-shirts ASAP --

(not to be sexist, but it figures that one of the only Democratic Senator with a brass pair is a woman).

Take THAT zell miller

25. Here is the replay.
Orin Hatch interrupted her: "Will you yield?" Landrieu: "I will not yield!" Hatch: "Will you yield?" Landrieu: "I will NOT yield!" Hatch" "Will you yield?" Landrieu: "I WILL NOT YIELD!!" Hatch: "I object!" Pres. of the Senate: "The senator from Louisiana has the floor."

Landrieu: "How much time do I have left?" Response: "22 minutes" Landrieu: "Good--and I am going to use EVERY one of them!"

She is nailing Republicans on wedge issues: racism, sexism.

Okay, I'll be the one to say it - can't accuse me of sexism. I remember seeing some video footage of her during her senate race and thinking "the Dems are going to win that seat."

All that and looks, too. She made Orrin Hatch look like even more of a bumbling idiot than usual.

33. what???
I don't know what she is saying, but I can post this..

Never use sweettalk nor accept it..when deciding your relationship with anyone OTHER than a lover! And even that has risks..

Landrieu is not pro-choice, Landrieu voted for all of shrub's taxcuts, she supported the PA, and she voted for the IWR.

Landrieu can be supported in the runoff against repukes, but what about in a non-partisan primary? She has failed to protect our liberity, she has failed to protect our security, and now she has failed to protect our future. so please tell me...why vote for her?

37. Get your facts straight dude. She IS pro-choice
She ran her last election against an antichoice candidate last fall and she defended her position well and won.

Yep. She voted for IWR just like John Fucking Kerry did.

I hate that she did that.

But please don't pour water on the beautiful performance she just gave. It was music to my ears and many others.

It was great to watch. Refusing to give old Orin Hatch an extra 30 seconds ticked him off, which I appreciated. And then she just let loose. I'm surprised some of the charts she was using didn't catch fire. Her catch phrase was "no matter how hard you try, we will not be divided." Good for her.

51. All this praise for the DLC's no 1 poster girl Bush's Tax cut? No no no
Edited on Fri Nov-14-03 10:47 AM by Tinoire
It's unfortunate people missed the passionate speech she gave supporting welfare reform. I wonder how admirable people would have found that. Of course Louisiana is also heavy oil industry, hence the overwhelming support for Dubya's administration (and Halliburton cronies and lack of environmental controls on polluting industries).

Landrieu is one of those cowardly appeasniks who has done more to set the Democratic party back than any Republican.

Gotta love these people:

But even more surprising than Mr. Daschle's switch on the pending gun bill were the 17 Senate Democrats — six of whom are running for re-election — who voted for the partial-birth-abortion ban that has been the No. 1 priority of the pro-life activist community.
Mr. Daschle voted for that, too. He said that he had "a lot of misgivings about this bill," but added that after eight years of debate, "it was time to move on."
Joining him were Democratic Sens. Evan Bayh of Indiana, Joseph R. Biden Jr. of Delaware, John B. Breaux and Mary L. Landrieu of Louisiana, Robert C. Byrd of West Virginia, Thomas R. Carper of Delaware, Kent Conrad and Byron L. Dorgan of North Dakota, Ernest F. Hollings of South Carolina, Tim Johnson of South Dakota, Patrick J. Leahy of Vermont, Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor of Arkansas, Zell Miller of Georgia, Ben Nelson of Nebraska and Harry Reid of Nevada.
The desertion of so many Democrats on an issue so important to the feminist movement — a core part of the party's base — shocked pro-choice activists. The Democrats "got nervous," said Kate Michelman who heads NARAL Pro-Choice America.
Getting religion was another issue discussed at the DLC strategy forum.
http://www.washtimes.com/national/20031029-105103-3000r.htm
-------------

Despite the self-serving claims of the DLC website, the DLC will never be able to credibly oppose the President. How could they? On too much of the Bush agenda, they can't attack Bush without attacking their own voting records.

NOTES: The thirteen DLC Senators who voted for Bush's tax cuts were Evan Bayh, John Breaux, Jean Carnahan, Tom Carper, Max Cleland, John Edwards, Dianne Feinstein, Tim Johnson, Mary Landrieu, Blanche Lincoln, Zell Miller, Ben Nelson. The only non-DLC Democrats to vote for it were Senators Baucaus and Torricelli, both DLC allies. The vote was, to be sure, part of the overall budget - but as reading the newspapers for April of 2001 will confirm, the controversy - and the reason that the other 35 Democrats voted against the bill - was over Bush's tax cuts.

The thirteen DLC Senators who voted against fuel efficiency were Evan Bayh, John Breaux, Tom Carper, Max Cleland, Kent Conrad, Tim Johnson, Herb Kohl, Mary Landrieu, Blanche Lincoln, Zell Miller, Ben Nelson and Debbie Stabenow.

Let's Hold Democrats Accountable for Supporting Bush's Tax Giveaway

28-May-01

Congressional Democrats

On May 23, all 50 Republican Senators voted for the $5.5 TRILLION tax giveaway to the rich, enough to guarantee its passage (with Cheney's help). But so did 12 Democrats - Blanche Lincoln (AR), Dianne Feinstein (CA), Max Cleland (GA), Zell Miller (GA), John Breaux (LA), Mary Landrieu (LA), Jean Carnahan (MO), Max Baucus (MT), Ben Nelson (NE), Robert Torricelli (NJ), Tim Johnson (SD), and Herbert Kohl (WI). This was the most horrendous vote in 20 years, and these Democrats need to be held accountable BY THEIR DEMOCRATIC CONSTITUENTS. If you are from one of these states, we urge you to join your statewide chapter of Democrats.com and coordinate a letter-writing campaign to your Senator, and plan an open and widely-publicized meeting for Democrats on his or her next visit back to your state. Who do these Democrats think elected them???

God, Guns, and Guts: Seizing The Cultural Center
The Democratic Leadership Council (DLC) and Americans for Gun Safety (AGS) co-hosted a working conference October 17-19, 2003, in Atlanta, on how Democrats can recapture the center in American politics on crucial issues such as firearms, faith, and family policy while promoting progressive principles.

All about God, Guns, and Guts with PowerPoint Presentations and all. Faith-based initiatives? Hmmm- who does that sound like?

No thank you... The DLC can keep people like Lieberman, Landrieu and Bayh.

Words are cheap and easy. Where was the action???????
