If they do not change after this ill-advised charade, then they have no plans to change. We should just forget that scenario. If this could not change their minds, it is not going to be changed.

There have been some moderate Repubs that have voted with the Democrats on occasion. Snow, Collins, and Chaffee come to mind. There have been hints that John McCain may change parties also. However, it is all rumors and it looks like they will stay with their evil and abusive step-mother, the modern-day Republican Party.

3.  O !
I think Zell made the decision, that since he is getting out anyway, to write a book and make a mint. He then decided that the best way to sell his book is thru the conservative channels, talk radio, Hannity, Limbaugh, and such. I don't think it's going to work for him. He's too smart by half.

4. Elected Officials Don't Switch to a minority Party
...that would merely dilute their influence.

6. Well, it's rare, but it does happen.
Jeffords didn't switch TO the minority party, but he switched FROM the majority party. And they've been known to switch when party politics in their state changes, e.g., Ben "Nightmare" Campbell.

5. It's time for a New Grand Old Party
The "Republican" party has nothing to do with the traditional ideas of Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt and Hiram Johnson, and is hopelessly the captive of the American Taliban. It's time for people who believe in the Party of Lincoln to ditch the "Republican" party -- but perhaps a switch to the Democratic line would be a step to far for the (other) McCains and Snows and Chaffees of the world.

Even my congressman, Curt Weldon, a conservative Republican loyalist if ever there was one, is chapped at this administration!

7. Repubs
I remember the days when Repubs had a modicum of integrity. That is long gone. Back then they voted for their constituents. Now they vote for their dictator. Those that are supposedly moderate now will never change. They will go right along with the hard-nosed ones. We have our grandstanders too--like Joe Biden. McCain talks soothingly about bi-partisanship, but he just likes the attention. They are getting a lot of airtime lately. That is just my take on it, but I have been around quite a while and can look back on things and see the transformation. I left the Repubs in 1992 to vote for Bill Clinton because by that time I had awakened from my nap.
