Attn: Republican Women . The Democrats voted for you.
In the Democrats press conference after the cloture vote on the filibuster, it became apparent that the Democrats were standing up for the women of America - Democratic and Republicn women. They stood up for the rights of women to choose what they do with their own bodies. Abortion is a very divisive issue and it is the Democrats that have the foresight to see that if a person (women) do not have the right to control their own bodies, they really have no freedom at all.

So if the Repubs wish to spin this 40 hour charade as somehow to their advantage, we are willing to tell the Republican women of this nation that there is a Party looking out for their interests and it isn't the Republican Party. I think we should spread this message to every state in the union. Women that value their freedom do not vote Republican.

1. Why does no one ever mention that if a gov't. can force you to have a baby
it can also go the other way and say who CAN have a baby?

2. I just heard Sen Stabenow from Michigan
We have a message for this president*. Just because a nominee is wearing a skirt doesn't mean that she represents the values of women.

Or something very close to that. I was cheering at the tv. So I might have gotten the last words of the statement wrong.

3. Many R women don't care because it doesn't affect them personally
Many (not all) Republican women are of comfortable means. That's not necessarily rich, but comfortable. If abortion's illegal in a comfortable woman's state or country, she can, generally, hop on a plane and go elsewhere.

An abortion ban does not mean there will be no more abortions. It just means that well-off women will get them legally in safe, sanitary hospitals, and poor women will be forced to have the babies or seek whatever abortion they can.

I do agree with you fully that the Republicans (and the Democrats who vote to confirm right-wingers or place restrictions on abortions) are selling out women all over. For me, it's an intelligence thing -- they're insulting my intelligence by telling me I can't make my own decision.
