Bush polls dropping again
Edited on Fri Nov-14-03 03:55 PM by lancdem
I just checked http://www.pollingreport.com and saw Bush is at 51 percent approval, 45 percent disapproval in the most recent CNN/Gallup poll, and at 50 percent approval in the CBS poll. For the record, the three most recent polls report him at 51, 50 and 51 (NBC).

Notice how he got basically no boost from all the positive economic data. Iraq appears to be an increasing liability for him (hey, we could've predicted that!).

1. CBS had an article with their latest poll numbers
stating that although Bush enjoyed a slight boost in Economic approval (2pts), his Iraq disapproval numbers knocked his overall approval rating down in the last poll.

2. If you like polls and good news...
Edited on Fri Nov-14-03 04:00 PM by Doug Decker
visit http://www.pollkatz.homestead.com/ and click on the snake flag icon. Then click on approval ratings for *. You'll see the trend since the start of the Iraq War is not good for *.

I look at pollkatz whenever I get depressed by the news and it cheers me up.

And, welcome back to DU (formerly diplomats)!! :hi:

10. No, I hadn't...
and thanks for bringing it to my attention. I usually don't rely on internet polls because they only reflect the opinins of only those who have chosen to participate.

All that aside, I do like seeing this kind of response on the internet. Finally, people may be seeing the light.

Thanks! You made my day.

:hi:

3. It is still a mystery to me why anyone
thinks this rube is doing a decent job.

I take that back. I know why: he has so much media support that he could probably get away with sacrificing virgins to ward off the evil spirit of Economic Recession and see a bump.

8. I am also very suspicious of the samples most pollsters use.
I suspect their "Democrat" responders are deliberately screened, and are among the more conservative of our party. How else can anyone explain how Gallup keeps periodically finding that LIEberman has higher approval numbers than Dean or Clark??? Gallup is definitely the worst of the worst, but I doubt the credibility of all mainstream corporate sponsored pollsters.

15. That's up from two months ago when 67% of Democrats couldn't
name ONE Democratic candidate.

16. I don't think Gallup is even trying to appear unbiased anymore.
They just hope enough braindead schmucks take their bait, hook line and sinker.

4. You Know What's Sick?
There was a story using those CBS numbers with a headline proclaiming a BOOST in his poll numbers! Of course, the boost was only in his handling of the economy. That's a 4 point drop in his approval and AFTER all the "good" economic news...

7. Yep. I posted that story in LBN Yesterday
and I doubt many people looked at it because the headline was so misleading.

9. Found It: CHECK OUT THIS BULLSHIT HEADLINE!
http://www.marketwatch.com/news/yhoo/story.asp?guid=%7BD956EABD-BCA4-42C7-86F2-50CD676B2C4E%7D&siteid=myyahoo&dist=myyahoo

Economy gives Bush a poll boost
But overall rating in CBS News survey at lowest point

Forty-three percent of Americans now approve of the way Bush is managing the world's largest economy, up from 41 percent last month. Forty-six percent disapprove, down from 51 percent last month. Read the poll.

--snip--

Notice how they fram this? First of all, the 2 point "boost" is within the margin of error, which means it could actually be non-existent. Second of all, a majority STILL Dissaprove.

Additionally, the 4 point drop in his approval ISN'T within MOE and is far more significant. I know this is an economic page being Marketwatch, but this story is clearly biased...

11. CBS MarketWatch is more whorish than CBS in general
they're chanting all the recovery BS like every other financial media outlet.

12. Maybe he did get a boost from the positive data???????
It could be why he is at 51 percent, and not 45/47 percent. Well the glass is always half filled for me.
